Nagoya’s cat cafés come in two kinds that are easy to tell apart. In the center, around Sakae and Nagoya Station, the national chains run bright walk-in cafés inside shopping buildings and malls. Out in the residential wards, most of the best cafés are small rescue cafés, in a converted double-decker bus, in old wooden houses and above shopping streets, and many of them have a car park, because that is how most locals reach them.

We checked every café below against its official site, Instagram or blog in October 2026, including prices, age limits and closing days. You can see them all, and the cafés in the rest of Aichi, on our Nagoya cat café map.

Chains or Rescue Cafés

Chain cafés (MOCHA, MOFF and Puchi Marry) keep 20 or so pedigree cats, take walk-ins, and charge by the 10 minutes after a first block of time, with a daily cap. They are the easy choice in town, open every day, and the mall branches have no minimum age.

Rescue cafés (保護猫カフェ, hogo-neko café) charge by the hour or a flat fee, and the money pays for the cats’ care until they are adopted. They are quieter, often open fewer days a week, and several need a booking. Some suburban cafés breed and sell cats instead; we say which below.

Almost everywhere asks you to wash your hands at the door and not to pick the cats up. Several rescue cafés ask you to wear socks, so bring a pair.

Sakae and Yabacho

The two big chain cafés in the center are a short walk apart at Yabacho, next to the PARCO buildings.

Cat Cafe MOCHA Nagoya Sakae is on the second floor of the BECOME SAKAE building beside PARCO’s south building, a minute from Yabacho station and about ten minutes’ walk from Sakae. About 20 pedigree cats live here, from Ragdolls and Siberians to Singapuras and Persians. The first 30 minutes cost ¥1,100 on weekdays and ¥1,400 at weekends, then ¥220 per 10 minutes, up to ¥3,520 or ¥3,850 for the day, with the drink bar included. Children aged 6 and up are welcome with an adult. It is open every day from 10am to 8pm, and no booking is needed.

Cat Café MOFF Nagoya PARCO is on the third floor of PARCO midi, which you can reach underground from Yabacho station through PARCO’s east building. Its 25 cats include Bengals, Chartreux and Tonkinese as well as the usual breeds. It costs ¥700 for 30 minutes plus a drink order, then ¥250 per 10 minutes, capped at ¥1,900 on weekdays and ¥2,900 at weekends, which makes it the cheapest chain for a long stay. There is no minimum age, children under 3 are free, and under-13s come with an adult. It opens from 11am to 7pm and closes when PARCO does. The cats can’t be held, and treats are given from a spoon.

A few minutes away in Nishiki, between Marunouchi and Hisaya-odori stations, Hitoyasumi is a rescue café that has worked with the Hananoki Shelter since 2015. About 14 cats live here. An hour costs ¥1,400 with unlimited drinks, two hours ¥2,400, and after 8pm you can stay for 30 minutes for ¥900. It is cash only, only children of elementary school age and up are admitted, and the cats can’t be held. It opens at 1pm on weekdays and noon at weekends, and in October 2026 it was closing at 8:30pm.

Osu

Puchi Marry Nagoya Osu fills three floors of a building on Banshoji-dori, the covered shopping street, three minutes from Osu Kannon station. More than 20 young cats live here, and it is open until 9pm every day, the latest of the chains. It costs ¥1,095 for 30 minutes with the drink bar, then ¥220 per 10 minutes, and on weekdays there is a free-time plan with a cat snack for ¥3,300.

Nearby, FUWA FUWA Land, a minute from exit 2 of Osu Kannon station, is mostly a dog café with a pet shop; the cats are on the second floor. It is the most expensive café here, from ¥1,580 for 30 minutes on weekdays, and the animals are bred by the shop.

Nagoya Station and Nishi Ward

MOCHA AEON Mall Nagoya Noritake Garden, on the third floor of the mall six minutes from Nagoya Station’s Lucent Avenue, is the closest chain café to the station. Its 20 cats include Norwegian Forest cats, Himalayans and Abyssinians. It charges ¥297 per 10 minutes on weekdays and ¥363 at weekends, up to ¥3,960 or ¥4,290, and has no minimum age.

The Hananoki Shelter, seven minutes from Sengencho station in Nishi ward, is the best value in Nagoya: its contact room costs ¥800 per person, with no time limit, and you can bring your own drinks. It is a large rescue, which says it found homes for 2,158 cats between 2015 and 2025, and it welcomes older and single adopters. It is open from 1pm to 6pm, and closed on the second and third Thursdays of each month. Its second building, Hananoki Shelter Nigokan, nine minutes from Taikodori station in Nakamura ward, was set up in 2018 for cats rescued from a hoarding case, and has the same prices and hours. Neither has parking.

Hidamari-go is a rescue café inside a converted double-decker bus, in front of the Konomicho city bus stop in Nishi ward, and with more than 770 reviews averaging 4.9 it is the most-reviewed café in the city. It has 12 seats, and nearly all the cats are up for adoption, many of them bottle-raised as kittens. A 30-minute trial costs ¥880 and an hour ¥1,320 (¥1,100 for children from 5 to elementary age), with soft drinks included; beer and chuhai are on sale too. Children under 5 aren’t admitted. It opens from 11:30am and is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It takes only AMEX and PayPay, not cash, and has two parking spaces.

Imaike and the East

Hemingway, three minutes from exit 4 of Imaike station, is a rescue café for an NPO’s cats, all up for adoption. An hour costs ¥1,300 with a drink, ¥1,100 for students and under-18s, and children are welcome with an adult. It is closed on Tuesdays and Fridays (unless they fall on a holiday), opening in the afternoons on weekdays and from 11am at weekends. You can book the same day by phone, but walk-ins are welcome. Socks are required.

A minute from exit 11 of Imaike station, ANIMAL Cafe and Bar mofutto is a Siberian café that also has an owl and dogs, and serves food and drinks in the evening. It has been booking-only since April 2026, from ¥3,200 for 90 minutes on weekdays, and is closed on Tuesdays.

Further east, MOFF AEON Mall Nagoya Dome-mae is on the first floor of the mall ten minutes from Nagoya Dome-mae Yada station, with 19 cats and the same prices as MOFF PARCO plus a ¥380 drink charge. In Kita ward, CATSPOT ZILLION, about 13 minutes north of Kurokawa station, opened in April 2025 with eight cats, all up for adoption; it costs ¥1,400 an hour, is closed on Wednesdays, and the cats rest from 3pm to 4pm. Nekoheya Tasuke, six minutes from Ozone station on the third floor of the Tsudoi Town building, has 13 cats looking for homes; an hour with a drink costs ¥1,300 on weekdays and ¥1,500 at weekends, and you pay at the café on the first floor. It is closed on Wednesdays.
