Hananoki Shelter Nigokan
Hananoki Shelter Nigokan is the second building of Hananoki Shelter, a Nagoya rescue group that has rehomed more than 2,000 cats since 2014. It is in Omiyacho, Nakamura, about 9 minutes on foot from Taikodori Station on the Sakuradori Line and 13 minutes from Nakamura Koen Station. Set up in 2018 to take in cats from a hoarding case, it is an open shelter whose contact room works like a cat cafe, where anyone can spend time with socialised rescue cats, many of them taken in from the Nagoya Animal Welfare Center. Entry is a flat fee per person with no time limit, children are welcome and visitors may bring their own drinks. All cats are looking for homes, and adoptions follow the shelter's own screening. There is no parking. The room is open every afternoon except the second and third Thursdays of the month and occasional closures.
