The cafe is a bright, open lounge with cat towers, shelves and sofas, home to a large group of mostly pedigree cats of many breeds. No reservation is needed: visits are charged for the first 30 minutes and then in 10-minute extensions, with an optional all-you-can-drink vending machine bar, and cat treats can be bought to feed the cats. Children aged 3 and over are welcome, and visitors under junior high school age must come with a guardian. Chasing the cats, picking them up and flash photography are not allowed. The cafe is open every day, following the mall's hours, which makes it an easy stop near the station.

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​​‌‌​​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​​​​​​‌⁠Cafe mikanneko (美観neko) is a small cat cafe on the second floor of a building in Chuo, Kurashiki, about seven minutes on foot from JR Kurashiki Station and close to the Bikan historical quarter. Around fifteen resident cats live in the cafe, and visitors spend time with them over coffee and simple drinks in a quiet, homely room. The cafe reopened after a renewal in July 2026 and now stays open into the evening, later on Fridays, Saturdays and the day before a public holiday. It is closed on Mondays, or on Tuesday when Monday is a holiday. Outside animals cannot be brought in. The same owner also runs Sanuki Neko in Utazu, Kagawa, which took over the premises of a cat cafe that closed at the end of 2025. Mikanneko works well as a quiet break from sightseeing in Kurashiki's canal district.

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​‌‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​​​​‌⁠Cafe Luana, part of the Pet no Baton Cafe group, is a rescue cat cafe on the second floor of a building in Tamachi, central Okayama, near the Yubinkyoku-mae tram stop. Opened in 2016, it is one of the largest cat cafes in the prefecture, with about 20 cats in a cat room of around 20 tatami mats. Most are rescued mixed-breed cats taken in from local rescue groups, alongside a few older pedigree cats such as a Maine Coon, a Norwegian Forest Cat and a Ragdoll. Visits are charged by time, with 30- and 60-minute plans and a free-time course, and drinks from the drink machine are included. A separate cafe space with Wi-Fi looks onto the cat room through glass, and outside food and drink may be brought into that area. Cats are adopted out to new families, which the cafe calls graduating.

Cody ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​​​​​​​​​‌‌​​​​‌​​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​⁠no Isu is a dog and cat cafe on the second floor of a building on the Holland-dori section of the Omotecho shopping arcade in central Okayama. Small, medium and large dogs, including young dogs and breeds such as a Borzoi, share one room with the resident cats, and there is also a quieter cat corner at the back. The animals are very used to people and often compete for a place on visitors' laps, so visitors are asked to wear socks and clothes that can get fur on them. Entry is charged per hour, with 30-minute extensions. Because of the large dogs, children are admitted from about age 10. Booking is recommended at weekends and for groups. The cafe is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and the fourth Sunday of the month, and temporary closures are posted on Instagram.

It is run alongside a veterinary practice, and the same group offers pet hotel and grooming services. A cafe serving coffee, lattes, cakes and soft-serve ice cream is separated by glass from the cat room, where more than ten rescued cats live while they wait for adoption. The cat room is charged per 30 minutes with one food or drink order, and the cafe can be used on its own. Children aged three and over who can follow the rules may enter the cat room. The cafe is closed on Wednesdays.

Opened in 2017 by a local rescuer, it houses dogs and many cats waiting for new families in a homely setting, and visitors who only want to spend time with the animals are equally welcome. All visits are booked in one-hour slots by phone, LINE or the online form, with one to three groups at a time. Somali ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​‌​​​​‌​​‌​​​‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌⁠is a cat cafe and bar in Kawanishimachi, Kurashiki, about four minutes on foot from Kurashiki-shi Station on the Mizushima Line. All of the resident cats are Somalis from one family, raised together, and they are friendly enough to climb onto visitors' shoulders and backs. At the cats' mealtime, food is handed out to visitors free of charge so they can feed the cats. The menu runs to about 100 items, including coffee, soft drinks, desserts such as parfaits, and alcohol, so it works both as a daytime cafe and as an evening bar. The space is small, with around 12 seats including counter seats, and reservations can be made online. It is open every day until late evening, with occasional irregular closures.

Visitors can watch the cats eat together at feeding time and buy food to feed them. Entry is charged per 30 minutes with one drink order, then in 10-minute increments, with a daily maximum that is higher at weekends. No booking is needed, children aged three and under enter free, and children of elementary school age and younger must come with a paying adult. There are also semi-private seating areas. The cafe follows the mall's opening days, with last entry 30 minutes before closing.

Nanairo ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​​‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​​​‌‌​​‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌⁠Shippo is a permanent weekend adoption space for rescued cats in a residential area of Wakamiya, Hayashima, run by a volunteer rescue group. Every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, rescued adult cats and kittens roam a free space where visitors can play with them, whether or not they plan to adopt. Entry works as a donation to the cats: a 30-minute first-visit course and a one-hour course that includes a bottled drink, with lower amounts for junior and senior high school students and free entry for elementary school children and younger. A small shop sells cat goods and handmade items to support the rescue work, and a veterinary consultation is available by booking during opening hours. Opening times vary from week to week and are posted on the group's blog, and some weekends are skipped. The phone is answered only during opening hours.
