Fureai Space Cody no Isu
Okayama2.5 mi / 4.0 km
Cody no Isu is a dog and cat cafe on the second floor of a building on the Holland-dori section of the Omotecho shopping arcade in central Okayama. Small, medium and large dogs, including young dogs and breeds such as a Borzoi, share one room with the resident cats, and there is also a quieter cat corner at the back. The animals are very used to people and often compete for a place on visitors' laps, so visitors are asked to wear socks and clothes that can get fur on them. Entry is charged per hour, with 30-minute extensions. Because of the large dogs, children are admitted from about age 10. Booking is recommended at weekends and for groups. The cafe is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and the fourth Sunday of the month, and temporary closures are posted on Instagram.

Opened in 2016, it is one of the largest cat cafes in the prefecture, with about 20 cats in a cat room of around 20 tatami mats. Most are rescued mixed-breed cats taken in from local rescue groups, alongside a few older pedigree cats such as a Maine Coon, a Norwegian Forest Cat and a Ragdoll. Visits are charged by time, with 30- and 60-minute plans and a free-time course, and drinks from the drink machine are included. A separate cafe space with Wi-Fi looks onto the cat room through glass, and outside food and drink may be brought into that area. Cats are adopted out to new families, which the cafe calls graduating.
