It opened in 2016 as the city's first cat cafe and is run with Green Street Rescue, a local rescue that takes in stray and homeless cats. About a dozen rescued cats live on site, and all of them are vetted and available for adoption. Visits last one hour, are charged per person with discounts for students, seniors and military, and include coffee, tea, hot cocoa or cider. Booking online is recommended because walk-in space is limited. Every visitor signs a waiver, and children must come with an adult. The cafe also offers memberships, private parties, events and merchandise. It is closed on Wednesdays, and metered street parking is available on Girard Avenue.

Doylestown, Pennsylvania

MeWow ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌​‌​‌​‌​‌​​‌​‌​​​​​​‌‌‌‌‌⁠Cat Cafe is a cat cafe in Doylestown, Bucks County, near the corner of Route 611 (Easton Road) and Route 313 (Swamp Road). It opened in August 2019 and moved into a larger space on East Swamp Road in June 2025. The cafe serves organic coffee, artisan teas, locally made desserts and packaged snacks, and adoptable cats live uncaged in separate kitty rooms, where visitors pay an entrance fee to spend time with them. The cats come from partner rescues Kitty Junction, Animal Alliance, A Bigger Purpose and A Better Life, which handle all adoptions, and more than 800 cats have been adopted. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends. Children under 5 are not allowed in the cat rooms. The cafe closes from 2 to 3 PM each day for the cats' nap time and is closed on Mondays. It also hosts events and private parties.

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​​​​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​​​‌​‌​‌‌​​​​‌‌‌​‌⁠Scratching Post is a volunteer-run cat cafe on Market Street in downtown Lewisburg, a few blocks from Bucknell University. It was founded in 2017 by the Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance, and its adoptable cats live cage-free in a living-room-style space so that visitors can see their personalities as they would be at home. Usually around ten to fifteen cats are in residence. Entry is a small per-person fee with no fixed time limit, and guests can sit on comfortable seating, use the Wi-Fi, read, study or catch up with friends among the cats. No food is prepared or sold on site, but visitors may bring food from nearby businesses as long as they do not share it with the cats. Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania

Cats ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌​‌‌‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌‌‌‌⁠in Bloom is a nonprofit cat cafe and adoption lounge on West Main Street in downtown Bloomsburg, near Bloomsburg University. Founded in 2019 and run entirely by volunteers and donors, it houses cats and kittens from a network of foster homes and local rescues in a low-stress, home-like space, with a separate kitten room, and often has several dozen cats in residence. All are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and available for adoption. Visitors do not have to be looking to adopt: they can simply relax, read or study among the cats. Entry is a small per-person fee for an hour, visitors must be at least five years old and sign a waiver on their first visit, and children 14 and under need an adult with them. No food is served. On the first Friday of each month the cafe stays open into the evening.

Treetops ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌‌​​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​​​⁠Kitty Cafe is a nonprofit cat rescue and cat cafe on West State Street in Kennett Square, Chester County. Founded in 2016 as Treetops Animal Rescue, it takes in at-risk cats from crowded high-kill shelters, gives them medical care and resocialization, and lets them roam freely in a living-room-style lounge where visitors can relax, play or work alongside them. More than 980 cats have been adopted since 2017. Visits are paid as a small entry donation, and complimentary coffee and tea are offered, with soft drinks for a donation, but it is not a full-service cafe. Reservations are highly recommended because the lounge holds only about six guests at once, and a group can book every slot for a private visit. Children must be at least 5 and with an adult, and infants and strollers are not allowed. There is a small gift shop.

Norwood, Pennsylvania

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌‌​​​​‌‌​‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​​‌​​​‌​‌‌⁠Nook Cafe is a nonprofit cat cafe in downtown Norwood, Delaware County, a short walk from the Norwood station on SEPTA's Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail line. Run with the volunteer-run Animal Coalition of Delaware County, it has a cat-free cafe area with coffee and snacks, where guests can also watch the cats, and a cat lounge where resident adoptable cats play and relax. Lounge visits are charged at a flat rate regardless of age, in one-hour slots that can be booked online, while shorter half-hour and 15-minute visits are for walk-ins. One side of the building is a full coffee bar and boutique with coffee, tea, bubble tea, local baked goods and pet-themed gifts, and the other holds two separate cat playrooms, including a kitten room, with around 20 adoptable cats. All of the cats come from the local rescue Wayward Whiskers, live at the cafe uncaged until they are adopted, and more than 500 have found homes so far. Visitors pay to spend time in the cat rooms; reservations are recommended, especially at weekends, because numbers in the lounges are limited, but walk-ins are welcome when there is space. The cafe can be visited without going in with the cats. Inside is also the Thrifty Kitty Catique, a thrift shop whose proceeds benefit Wayward Whiskers.

Coal ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​​‌​​​​​​‌‌‌​⁠Cats Cafe is a cat cafe on West Broad Street in downtown Tamaqua, in Schuylkill County's coal region. Opened in October 2022 by Kim and Ron Chamberlain, it fosters cats and kittens for Starting Over Animal Rescue, and all of the cats in its Cat Den are available for adoption through the rescue. The decor celebrates the town's mining heritage, with a coal-cart cat tree, a mine-shaft mural and a corrugated metal ceiling, and the coffee menu follows the theme with drinks named after mining terms. Visitors book 45-minute sessions in the cat den, which is separate from the cafe counter, and walk-ins are welcome when there is space. Children must be at least nine years old to enter the cat den. A small gift shop sells local items, cat treats and cat-themed gifts.

Founded by Erie native Dena Rupp and opened in March 2022, it pairs a coffee bar serving local coffee, tea and baked goods with a separate cat lounge behind a glass wall and double doors. The lounge is home to adoptable cats from Because You Care, a no-kill rescue in McKean, and several hundred have been adopted through the cafe. Lounge visits are paid, timed sessions limited to 12 people at a time, so booking online is recommended, while the cafe side needs no reservation and has a viewing window into the cat room. Children 7 and older are welcome in the lounge, with an adult for ages 7 to 13, and guests remove their shoes. The cafe also holds events such as yoga with cats.

Opened in May 2021 by owner Vikki Kenyon, it acts as a foster home for homeless cats waiting for adoption, and usually has around 20 adoptable rescue cats living in its Cat Den. Visits to the Cat Den are 50-minute sessions for a per-person fee, limited to 12 guests at a time, so reservations on the website are strongly encouraged and a waiver should be signed before arrival; walk-ins are accepted when there is room. The coffee shop, serving locally roasted coffee, hot chocolate and sweet treats, and the gift shop of locally made, cat-themed items are separate from the cats and need no reservation. The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​⁠Cat Lounge of Kitty Queen Cat Rescue is an adoption center and cat lounge on McKnight Road in Ross Township, in Pittsburgh's North Hills. Kitty Queen, a no-kill nonprofit rescue, describes it as Pittsburgh's first cat lounge, and the current space replaced a smaller original lounge. Adoptable cats and kittens live together in an open, cage-free room with climbing structures, toys and soft resting spots, and visitors can come in simply to relax and play with them or to look for a cat to adopt. There is a small entry fee, walk-ins are welcome, and visits can also be reserved through the rescue's website. Named after the owners' dog, it was opened to give adoptable cats and kittens a less stressful place to meet people, in partnership with the local rescue Four Footed Friends, and usually has about ten to twenty fully vetted cats in its cat room. Visitors book 45-minute cat room sessions online, with a lower price for children 12 and under and a shorter 20-minute express visit, and the room is limited to a small group at a time. The front cafe serves coffee, espresso drinks, tea and local pastries, has a viewing window into the cat room and can be used without visiting the cats. The cafe also hosts events and private parties, and runs Penny's Pet Pantry to help local pet owners.
