Purrfect Mugs Cat Cafe
Purrfect Mugs Cat Cafe is a coffee shop, gift shop and cat cafe on North River Street in Plains Township, just north of Wilkes-Barre. Opened in May 2021 by owner Vikki Kenyon, it acts as a foster home for homeless cats waiting for adoption, and usually has around 20 adoptable rescue cats living in its Cat Den. Visits to the Cat Den are 50-minute sessions for a per-person fee, limited to 12 guests at a time, so reservations on the website are strongly encouraged and a waiver should be signed before arrival; walk-ins are accepted when there is room. The coffee shop, serving locally roasted coffee, hot chocolate and sweet treats, and the gift shop of locally made, cat-themed items are separate from the cats and need no reservation. The cafe does not take in surrendered cats.
