Opened in 2016, it is home to 24 resident cats of many breeds, including Devon Rex, which live at the cafe permanently rather than being up for adoption. The cafe and its balcony are separate from the Cat Lounge, so visitors can eat or watch the cats without going in. Cat Lounge visits are 30 or 60 minute sessions, best booked online, though walk-ins are welcome when there is space, and food and drinks can be taken into the lounge. There are 17 steps up to the cafe and no lift. A private VIP Paw Lounge can be booked for groups, with the option of requesting a favourite cat. The cafe is fully licensed, serving barista coffee, cakes, meals, milkshakes and cocktails. All ages are welcome, and children 12 and under must be supervised. It is open daily.

SupermarCat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌​​‌​​‌​‌​​​‌⁠Cat Café is a cafe with a separate cat room in Southport's Chinatown precinct on Davenport Street, just off Marine Parade. Its resident cats include several British Shorthairs. Visitors who spend a set amount on food or drink get a free 15-minute session in the cat room, and the cat room can also be visited on its own for a fee. There are no reservations: visits are walk-in, first come, first served. The kitchen serves an all-day brunch menu with Asian-fusion dishes alongside breakfast plates, burgers, sandwiches, cakes, specialty coffee and matcha, plus a kids' menu. The cafe sells fridge magnets featuring its own cats and takes donations towards their care. It hosts birthday parties and private events, and it is open every day from morning to mid-afternoon. Outside pets are not allowed.

RSPCA ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​​​‌‌‌​‌⁠Black Cat Café is the cafe at RSPCA Queensland's Brisbane Animal Care Campus on Wacol Station Road in Wacol, in Brisbane's south-west. Adoptable cats live in enclosed play areas built into the cafe, with an indoor section and an outdoor section, so diners can watch them climb and play while they eat. All of the cats are desexed, health checked and available for adoption through the RSPCA, and visitors who connect with one can arrange to adopt it on the same campus, which also has the adoption centre, an op shop and a pet store. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and coffee to eat in or take away, with vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options and free-range, higher-welfare ingredients, and all profits go to the RSPCA's animal care. There is no entry fee and no booking. It is open every day, with shorter hours on weekends.

Formerly PKP Cat Cafe, it is named after a former resident cat. The lounge has about 11 resident cats, from relaxed adults to playful younger cats, plus cat toys and board games for visitors. It is a lounge rather than a cafe: no food is allowed inside, though bottled drinks are, and cat treats can be bought on site. Visits run in fixed 90-minute sessions starting at 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, 2:30 PM and 4 PM. Online booking is recommended, weekday walk-ins are taken only when space allows, and there are no walk-ins on weekends. Children 12 and under must be supervised. The business also grooms cats and dogs and hosts after-hours events.

Petacular ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​‌​‌​‌​‌​​‌​​‌​‌‌​​‌⁠Mt Ommaney is a pet shop in the Mt Ommaney Centre on Dandenong Road, Mount Ommaney, in Brisbane's western suburbs, beside the Kmart tyre and auto centre. Alongside pet food and accessories and a large reptile room, it has a kitty room where visitors pay a small entry fee to sit with and pat the shop's kittens and cats, and a puppy room that works the same way. The kittens and cats in the room are sold by the shop, so this is a commercial pet shop rather than a rescue. Entry to the kitty room is valid for the whole day instead of a timed session, and no booking is needed. There is no food or drink service. The shop is open every day, with shorter hours on weekends, and it also sells puppies, birds, fish and a wide range of reptiles.

Port Douglas, Queensland

Paws ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​‌​​​​​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​​​​​‌⁠and Claws Refuge and Boarding Centre is a non-profit, no-kill dog and cat shelter on Teamsters Close in Craiglie, just south of Port Douglas off the Captain Cook Highway. Its cattery has a large air-conditioned indoor room with climbing frames, toys and beds, plus an outdoor area, and the cats living there are rescues from the Douglas Shire waiting for new homes. Besides people looking to adopt, cat lovers are welcome to drop in and spend time with the cats, and the shelter runs the room as a small cat cafe where coffee is offered for a gold coin donation. No booking is needed, and visits to the cats run from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Adoptions are arranged directly with the shelter. Paws and Claws also offers dog boarding and day care, lets visitors take its rescue dogs for walks, and runs a charity shop in Mossman.
