Pebbles ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​​‌‌​​​​‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​​​‌​​‌​​‌⁠Kitty Cat Café is a cat cafe on Hoogstraat in central Rotterdam, about five minutes on foot from Oostplein metro and tram stop. Open since September 2016, it was the city's first cat cafe and is home to nine resident cats, among them Giny, Luna, Roffa, Misty, Shade and the sisters Matcha and Taro, who were found as kittens in the Rotterdam port. Since 2021 it has worked with Pameijer, whose clients help in the kitchen, at the tables and with the cats. Each guest, children included, pays a small cat contribution and orders from a menu of coffee, tea, cakes, toasties and sandwiches with vegan options. Visits run in 1.5-hour slots, and booking is recommended, especially at weekends and in school holidays. Guests enter through a double-door airlock and may not feed the cats. Board games are available, and the cafe holds workshops and events.

Amsterdam, Noord Holland

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌​​​​​​​​​‌​​​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​⁠Kopjes is a cat cafe on Marco Polostraat in De Baarsjes, Amsterdam West, near Rembrandtpark. Opened in April 2015 after a crowdfunding campaign, it was the first cat cafe in the Netherlands. About seven resident cats live here, selected from two Amsterdam shelters, Stichting Dierenleed and the Dierenopvangcentrum Amsterdam, and they are not up for adoption. The room is fitted out with climbing and sleeping spots for the cats. Guests pay a small entrance fee per person toward the cats' care and can stay for about an hour and a half; the room is small, so booking a slot online is strongly recommended. Visitors must be 12 or older, and payment is by card only. The menu covers coffee, tea, breakfast, light lunches and cakes. The cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Zwolle, Overijssel

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌​​​‌​​​‌‌​​‌‌​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​​⁠Skatjes is a cat cafe on Korte Smeden in the Eiland quarter of Zwolle's old town. Corinna Schat opened it in August 2019 after a crowdfunding campaign, starting with cats from the Stichting Flappus rescue. Five resident cats now live in the cafe, and the cat theme runs through everything from the wallpaper and tableware to cat-shaped bread and biscuits. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, cakes, an extensive coffee and tea list and high teas, and a gift shop called the Katdoshop sells cat-themed items. Reservations are recommended but not required. Cats may not be picked up, held, woken or fed, and play is only allowed when a cat shows interest. Children are admitted from age four; at most four children aged 4 to 12 are allowed in at once, and those under eight must be supervised at all times.

Alkmaar, Noord Holland

DigiBeet ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​​​​​​‌‌​‌​​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌​⁠en Katten Café is a cat cafe on Ritsevoort in the centre of Alkmaar. About ten resident cats, adopted from Greece, live here permanently and roam freely among the tables, with plenty of places to retreat; a booklet introduces each cat by name and character, and it is available in English, as is the menu. The cafe serves coffee, tea, homemade cakes, lunch dishes such as toasted sandwiches, and a high tea with the cats that is booked in advance. It also works as a 'digibeet' cafe, where older people and others who struggle with technology can get help with phones, tablets and computers, and as a day-activity workplace: staff and participants, partly through Stichting De Waerden, serve guests, cook and help care for the cats. It is open Wednesday to Saturday.

Almere, Flevoland

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌‌​‌​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌​​‌⁠The Coffee Cat is a cat cafe on Brouwerstraat, by the canal in the centre of Almere-Stad, which describes itself as the largest cat cafe in the Netherlands. About 13 resident cats of various breeds, long- and short-haired, live here, among them Olaf, Pixie, Nala, Wasabi, Jet and Smokey. They have climbing poles, wall shelves, a cats' corner and a walkway along the ceiling, and toys are left out so guests can play with them; children can follow a search game to find all the cats. There is no entrance fee and no need to book, except for the high tea with unlimited tea and coffee, which is reserved at least a day ahead for groups of up to 12. The menu covers coffee, sandwiches, salads, panini and homemade cakes. The cafe opened in 2018 and has been under new owners since 2025. It is closed on Mondays.

Haarlem, Noord Holland

Jippies ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌​​‌‌​​⁠Kattencafé is a cat cafe and lunchroom on Keizerstraat in the Vijfhoek, the old centre of Haarlem. It opened on World Animal Day, 4 October 2017, after a crowdfunding campaign, and is set up like a large living room with cat furniture, cat books and puzzles. Six to seven resident cats live here, all adopted from Dutch shelters and a kitten rescue on Curaçao; they are not available for adoption. There is no entrance fee, but each guest orders at least one item per time slot of about an hour and a half, and tables can be booked online. Children are welcome from age 6, with a cap on how many are inside at once. Guests wash their hands on arrival and do not pick up, wake or feed the cats. The menu has breakfast, soups, sandwiches, cakes and high tea, with vegetarian and vegan options.

Groningen

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌​​​​‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌​​​‌‌⁠Op z'n Kop is a cat cafe on Oude Ebbingestraat in the centre of Groningen, about a minute's walk from the Grote Markt. Hielkje Wester opened it in February 2016 as the second cat cafe in the Netherlands. Furnished like a living room, it is home to about ten cats adopted from animal shelters, who live there permanently and have a private room to retreat to. Guests pay a small entrance fee towards the cats' care, plus their food and drinks: coffee, tea, homemade cakes, breakfast and sandwiches, as well as high tea and high coffee, including vegan versions. Booking a table is advised, especially at weekends and in school holidays. The cafe runs movie nights, cat bingo, seasonal brunches and a private VIP arrangement, and has an online shop with cat merchandise whose sales support the cats. Visitors with children are asked to read the cafe's guidelines first.

Alphen Aan Den Rijn, Zuid Holland

Cattuccino ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌​​‌‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌‌⁠is a cat cafe on the Rijnkade quay in the centre of Alphen aan den Rijn, and the town's first. It presents itself as a coffee shop with cats rather than an attraction, serving coffee, homemade cakes, toasties and lunch while its resident cats Loes, Isley, Bodhi, Milo, Jack and the young Suzy decide for themselves when to join guests. Tables can be booked online, and walk-ins are seated when there is room; work spots can also be reserved. A small cat contribution is charged per person, with children up to two free, and children up to twelve must be accompanied by an adult, with no more than two per adult. Guests may play with the cats but not pick them up or feed them. On Friday and Saturday evenings the cafe becomes CattuVino, a wine bar, and it also hosts pub quizzes and game nights.

The Hague, Zuid Holland

CoffeeCats ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌‌‌​​​‌​​​​‌​‌⁠is a small cat cafe on Weimarstraat, a shopping street in the Segbroek district of The Hague. Six rehomed cats live there, Mimi, Saar, Jambo, Kay, Poekie and Meissie, and guests spend time with them over coffee, iced coffee, milkshakes, sandwiches, lunch and cakes. Visitors ring the bell to be let in, which keeps the cats from slipping out, and wash their hands before touching the cats; parents are expected to keep children calm. There is no separate entry fee, but the cafe is busy and booking is strongly advised, with a table only held once a confirmation arrives. Each booking carries a small deposit that goes to the cats' care if guests do not turn up without cancelling. Groups of more than four book by email or phone. A separate room can be hired for meetings or high teas, and the cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday.

Nijmegen, Gelderland

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌​​​​‌‌​‌‌​​‌​​‌​⁠Balthazar is a cat cafe on Van Welderenstraat in the centre of Nijmegen. Sanne Versteeg opened it in August 2017 with help from a crowdfunding campaign, making it the first cat cafe in Gelderland. Eight resident cats live there, among them Moes, the eldest, who has lived in the cafe since it opened, the siblings Nori and Maki, the adventurous Karel, the bold Spruit and the young brothers Beer and Loki. Besides the cafe room there is an inner garden, and in summer some of the cats climb the tree there. The kitchen serves lunch, coffee and homemade cakes, with many vegan and vegetarian dishes, plus high tea. No reservation is needed for an ordinary visit, but high tea must be booked at least 24 hours ahead by WhatsApp or email. On days above 30 degrees the cafe closes early for the cats.

Dordrecht, Zuid Holland

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​​​​​​‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌‌​‌​‌⁠Stripe is a cat cafe and lunchroom on Vriesestraat, a shopping street in the old centre of Dordrecht. Opened in October 2020 by Monique Rozendaal, it is furnished like a living room, with cat beds and wall shelves where eight or nine resident cats, among them Nemo and Keera, roam and doze. A booklet on each table introduces the cats, and staff point out which ones prefer to be left alone that day. Several of the cats are shy and come to guests only when they choose. The menu covers coffee, tea, sandwiches with homemade toppings, vegan options, cakes such as brownies and apple pie, and high tea. Board games are available, and the cafe holds occasional workshops such as drawing classes. It is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Tilburg, Noord Brabant

Kattencafé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​‌‌​​‌​​​​‌‌‌‌​‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌​⁠De Spinnerij is a cat cafe on the Langestraat in Tilburg's Dwaalgebied, the old streets of the city centre about 400 metres from Tilburg Centraal station. Set up as a living room, it is home to nine adopted cats: eight came from the Dutch-run rescue Cats Care Crete on Crete, and a ninth, born in Spain, joined in 2025. A booklet on each table introduces the cats and what they like. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, homemade cakes and high tea, and there are board games and a small shop with cat merchandise. A cat contribution per person is added to the bill, with young children free. Booking a 90-minute slot online is recommended, especially at weekends. Children are advised from about six, the number of small children per slot is limited, and sleeping cats are left alone. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
