Chez Maminou
Valenciennes, Hauts De France
Chez Maminou is a cat cafe, tea room and small restaurant on Rue de Famars in central Valenciennes. It is run by Maminou, a former human resources manager turned baker and feline behaviourist, who cooks the savoury dishes and bakes the pastries herself using seasonal ingredients and local producers. Cats roam the bright, clean room among the tables. They come from the partner association Zarg'n co in Cambrai and are available for adoption, and staff can talk visitors through the process. The menu includes homemade tarts, tiramisu, chocolate fondant, Viennese hot chocolate, teas, coffees and some beers. The owner also offers consultations as a cat behaviourist, sells teas, coffees and personalised mugs, and runs baking workshops, including sessions for children.

Barachat
Dunkerque, Hauts De France
Barachat is a non-profit cat cafe near the city centre of Dunkerque, run by volunteers of the association Les Chamis. The cats are the association's rescues, and up to five at a time live in a bright room under a glass roof, where they can be adopted under an association contract. The cafe seats about ten visitors, who come for a drink, a homemade vegan pastry, cookies or a milkshake and to spend time with the cats. House rules ask guests not to wake sleeping cats, force them to play, feed them or use a flash, and children must stay with their parents. Volunteers also give advice to future adopters and cat owners, and the association holds weekly morning craft workshops and sells eco-friendly handmade cat items. Takings fund the association's rescue work. The cafe occasionally closes for a few days at short notice, announced on its social media.

Le Cafélin
Maubeuge, Hauts De France
Le Cafélin is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue du 145ème RI in Maubeuge, in the Sambre-Avesnois area near the Belgian border. Cats live in the cafe with plenty of climbing shelves, walkways and toys overhead, and visitors share the calm, cosy room with them over a drink or a meal. The cats are available for adoption in partnership with an animal welfare association. The cafe changed hands in 2026, and the new owners reopened it with a refreshed decor and a homemade menu that includes pastries such as lemon tiramisu, paninis, pasta and hot dogs alongside hot and cold drinks. It also hosts children's birthday parties. Opening is from Wednesday to Sunday afternoons.

Esta-minet
Saint Venant, Hauts De France
Esta-minet is a restaurant and tea room with resident cats on the main square of Saint-Venant, a small town in the Pas-de-Calais between Béthune and Aire-sur-la-Lys. The name plays on the estaminet, the traditional café-restaurant of northern France, and minet, a word for cat. Behind a glass frontage, the cosy room has vintage decor and several cats that move around the tables at their own pace. At lunchtime the kitchen serves fresh homemade dishes made with local produce, and in the afternoon the venue becomes a tea room with cakes, macarons and hot drinks. It also runs occasional activities, such as children's workshops at Easter, and hosts small celebrations.
Au Bon'Eure des Chats
Incarville, Normandy
Au Bon'Eure des Chats is a family-style restaurant, tea room and bar à chats in Incarville, next to Louviers in the Eure. Owner Martine cooks a homemade daily menu of starter, main course and dessert, adapted to guests' allergies, and serves crêpes and afternoon snacks, while many rescued cats live in the dining room and come to the tables for attention. The cats are looked after by the rescue association Boule de Poil 27 and are available for adoption, and Martine, who chairs the association, explains the adoption procedure and fees to interested visitors. Lunch from Monday to Saturday needs no reservation, while evening meals are by reservation, so it is best to phone ahead. Visitors describe the place as feeling like a visit to a cat-loving grandmother's house.

Cookie Cat Café
Vernon, Normandy
Cookie Cat Café is a restaurant, tea room and bar à chats in the centre of Vernon, a few minutes from Giverny and Monet's gardens. Opened in October 2020, it occupies a 200-square-metre space decorated like a chic country house, with seasonal themes, where around ten resident cats doze on chairs and wander among the tables without being intrusive. The kitchen serves homemade salads, soups, savoury tarts, comfort dishes and raclettes, along with cakes, cookies, crêpes, smoothies and hot chocolate for afternoon tea. Sharing boards are available on Friday and Saturday evenings, and brunch is served on Sundays by reservation. The venue can also be booked for private events.
Ronrons et Latte
La Ferte Alais, Ile De France
Ronrons et Latte is a tea room and cat cafe in the centre of La Ferté-Alais in the southern Essonne, about five minutes on foot from the RER D station. Most are residents, including a mini snow Bengal, and two at a time are available for adoption under an association contract with Nos Chats Sans Toit, a rescue group based in Corbeil-Essonnes. The menu mixes healthy and indulgent snacks, such as cookies, pancakes, muffins, tarts and matcha cake, with hot sandwiches like bagels and grilled cheese, milkshakes and specialty hot chocolates and lattes, much of it made to order. Mon Chat Pitre Versailles
Versailles, Ile De France
Mon Chat Pitre Versailles is a general bookshop in central Versailles where rescued cats live among the shelves, part of the Mon Chat Pitre network of 'ronron-librairies' founded in Aix-en-Provence in 2021. It opened in spring 2026. The cats, all from shelters and rescue associations, roam freely, sleep in the displays and come to greet browsers, and they have their own space to retreat to. They are permanent residents rather than adoptable cats, and the shop uses its following to promote cats waiting for homes in local associations. There is no cafe or entry fee: visitors come to browse, ask the booksellers for recommendations, order titles not in stock, and spend time with the cats. The shop also sells cat-themed accessories and gifts.
Wiccat
Strasbourg, Grand Est
Wiccat is a small coffee shop and cat cafe in central Strasbourg, on Rue Adolphe Seyboth a few minutes' walk from the Alt Winmärik tram stop and the Petite France quarter. Its interior is decorated around a witchy, fairytale theme, and the menu leans on colourful seasonal drinks inspired by Korean and Japanese coffee shops, homemade pastries with vegan options, and weekend brunch. The cafe opened in July 2025 and works as a foster home for the association Cat'MonDoux: around four cats live among the tables while they wait for adoption, and visitors who bond with one are put in touch with the association. The room is small, so booking ahead is strongly recommended, through the online request form or by message. A small shop corner sells handmade items, and the cafe also hosts events such as tarot and astrology readings.

Chatperlipopette Café
Strasbourg, Grand Est
Chatperlipopette Café is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue de Lausanne in Strasbourg's Krutenau quarter, a short walk from Place d'Austerlitz. Opened in December 2016 by Nathalie Berlot, it is the longest-running cat cafe in the city. A large group of cats lives in the jungle-themed room, along with a couple of small dogs, and the menu introduces each cat by name and temperament so visitors can recognise them. Guests ring the bell to enter and disinfect their hands at the door, then settle in with coffee, tea, milkshakes, crêpes, waffles or a light lunch while the cats move freely between the tables. The cafe is open Tuesday to Saturday afternoons, with a longer day on Wednesdays, and the owner and volunteers are happy to share the stories of the individual cats.
Le Cat-Quart
Haguenau, Grand Est
Le Cat-Quart is the first cat cafe in Haguenau, a brunch and coffee shop on Rue de la Torture in the town centre, about 30 km north of Strasbourg. It opened in June 2025 and serves homemade brunch dishes, grilled cheese, granola bowls, cookies and seasonal drinks, with gluten-free and vegan options. The cafe is a foster home for three local rescues, the Ecole du chat libre des Vosges du Nord in Niederbronn, the SPA de Haguenau and Les Bitcherkatz of Bitche, and the cats in the room are up for adoption through those associations; more than 40 have found homes so far. Two resident cats, Cachou and Pitchou, stay on as mascots. Visitors disinfect their hands on arrival, let the cats come to them, keep children seated and do not share food. Table booking is available online, and the kitchen closes at 2 PM.

Five resident cats live in the tea room, including Woody, a black and white cat with short front legs, Barney the cream Persian, Phoebe the lilac British Shorthair, young Joey and the tortoiseshell Elf; they are the cafe's own cats rather than adoptable. Visitors pay a small entry contribution towards the cats' care on top of a required order, and visits are limited to two hours. Children are welcome from age eight.
