Féline Idée
Annemasse, Auvergne Rhone Alpes
Féline Idée is a restaurant and cat cafe on Rue Paul Bert in central Annemasse, close to the Swiss border and Geneva, and the only one of its kind in Haute-Savoie. Opened in June 2021, it hosts cats from the Refuge de l'Espoir in Arthaz, and the cats are available for adoption under the refuge's own conditions. Guests disinfect their hands on arrival and are seated in a dining room where the cats roam, nap and sometimes show interest in the plates. The kitchen serves homemade lunches and dinners with nothing frozen, plus desserts and an afternoon menu, and drinks come from local and organic suppliers. Children under 12 are not admitted, a rule set by the departmental authorities.

Le Chat-Rivari Café
Paris, Ile de France
Le Chat-Rivari Café is a vegan cat cafe on Boulevard Auguste Blanqui in the 13th arrondissement, one minute from Corvisart métro station and five minutes from Place d'Italie, near the Butte-aux-Cailles. Opened in August 2025 by Marie and Aniss, it acts as a foster home for around ten cats of all ages from the BooGlaw rescue, and every cat is available for adoption through the association, with more than sixty cats rehomed since opening. The cats move freely between the ground-floor cafe and a private basement room with beds, litter trays and food. The menu is fully plant-based, with hot and cold drinks and homemade sweet and savory snacks; no alcohol is served. There is no entry fee and no reservations, so visitors simply walk in. Children aged seven and over are welcome with an adult, and guests follow a conduct charter for the cats' comfort. Board games are available.

Meow Cats Café
Aix en Provence, Provence Alpes Cote Dazur
Meow Cats Café is the first cat cafe in Aix-en-Provence, open since February 2019 on Rue Fonderie in the old town, close to Place des Prêcheurs. Six resident cats, all from rescue associations, make up the house 'Meow Gang': Dexter, Kida, Olympe, Opium, Fripouille and Oni. They roam the cafe freely and often nap among the tables. There is no entry fee; guests order from a homemade, vegan-friendly menu of onigiri, sando sandwiches, pastries such as chocolate fondant and cat-shaped panna cotta, milkshakes, matcha lattes and other hot and cold drinks, with brunch on Saturdays. Lunch tables and the Saturday brunch can be booked by Instagram message for groups of up to six; from 2 PM visits are walk-in only. Children under 10 are not admitted, for the cats' wellbeing. The cafe also sells its own merchandise.

Papa Chat Café
Toulon, Provence Alpes Cote Dazur
Papa Chat Café is the first cat cafe in Toulon, opened in April 2026 on Rue de Pomet in the old town, a short walk from Place Puget. Founder Julien Telmat runs it as a cosy home for about eight cats, all rescued and adopted from animal protection associations; they live at the cafe permanently and are not offered for adoption. Access to the cat room is charged by the hour on top of what you order, with a lower rate for children. Children under 6 are not admitted. The menu offers hot and cold drinks, homemade pastries and cookies and savoury snacks for lunch. Visitors disinfect their hands on arrival and are asked not to pick up, wake or feed the cats, not to use flash and to keep their voices low. The cafe also sells its own branded goodies such as T-shirts and mugs.

L'instant chat

L'instant chat is a cat cafe and tea room on Avenue Paul Bourget in Hyères, near the train station. Open since 2017, it acts as a foster home for regional animal protection associations, so every cat in the cafe is available for adoption and the group changes as cats find new homes. The cats move freely through the room and have their own retreat they can withdraw to at any time, and the number of guests is limited to keep things calm. There is no entry fee; visitors order from the menu, which includes salads, toasted sandwiches with meat and vegetarian fillings, cookies, muffins, Liège waffles, organic ice cream and a list of about fifteen organic teas. The entrance has a double-door airlock, and guests disinfect their hands and are asked not to wake, pick up or feed the cats. Children must stay under their parents' supervision.

T'ChaThé
Craponne, Auvergne Rhone Alpes
T'ChaThé is a tea room and cat cafe on Avenue Pierre Dumond, the main street of Craponne in the western suburbs of Lyon, reachable by bus. It describes itself as the first bar à chats in the ouest lyonnais. The cats come from a partner association and most are up for adoption, while a couple have been adopted by the owner and stay on as residents. The 85-square-metre space has a quiet area and a games area, and visitors go through an entrance airlock where the house rules are posted. The menu centres on organic loose-leaf teas, also sold to take home, along with coffee, milkshakes and homemade snacks, and there are board games. Children of any age are welcome as long as they stay calm, which is rare among cat cafes in the area. The cafe is accessible to wheelchair users and runs regular activities.

Le Chatelier

Le Chatelier is a cat cafe and cat boarding hotel on Rue Saint-Jacques in the 5th arrondissement, a short walk from the Jardin du Luxembourg and Luxembourg RER station. It was opened in 2025 by Nadège, who has a background in animal behavior. The ground-floor cafe is home to five rescued cats, among them Tala, Chase, Stella, Ananas and Kahina, whom she adopted and who live here permanently; boarding cats stay in a separate space upstairs and do not meet visitors. The cafe occasionally hosts adoption days with a partner rescue. There is no entry fee: visitors order a hot or cold drink and a snack such as a brownie, madeleine or mochi, and can use the wifi, board games, books and manga. Booking is recommended, and on busy Fridays and Saturdays visits are limited to one hour per drink. The cafe also runs workshops, game nights and events.

Koneko Work

Koneko Work is a coworking space with adoptable cats on Rue d'Aligre in the 12th arrondissement, beside the Marché d'Aligre and about 250 meters from Ledru-Rollin métro station. Founded by Inès, it works with the animal protection association EMÂ, which places cats rescued from the street here while they wait for a home; visitors who fall for one apply to adopt through the association. The cats roam freely among the desks, and the space is kept quiet for both workers and cats. Time is charged by the hour with discounted morning, half-day and full-day rates, and the price includes wifi, power sockets, a phone booth and unlimited coffee, tea and sweet and savory snacks. Booking online is advised but not required. A Japanese-style meeting room can be rented, and evening events such as crochet nights are held with the cats.

Coffee Cat
Rouen, Normandy
Coffee Cat is a cat cafe and brunch spot on Place du Général-de-Gaulle in central Rouen, beside the Hôtel de Ville. It opened in October 2024 as a solidarity cafe run with the local rescue association Un Espoir pour Demain: the owner fosters the cats for the association, and visitors who form a bond with one can fill in an adoption form on site, after which the association handles the adoption. The cats roam the small, cosy room freely. House rules ask guests not to wake sleeping cats, force contact or feed them. The menu covers specialty coffee, matcha, teas, milkshakes, homemade pastries such as cinnamon rolls and cookies, and brunch dishes including avocado toast, with vegetarian and vegan options. Since late August 2026 it has been open seven days a week. Reservations are not taken, so visitors walk in and are seated as space allows.

Cosy Lunch
Rouen, Normandy
Cosy Lunch is a family-run crêperie and bar à chats on Place de la Calende, right beside Rouen Cathedral. Open since 2015, it serves buckwheat galettes, sweet crêpes, burgers, salads and set lunch menus, with vegetarian and vegan options, in a room decorated with 2000s pop-culture and video game references. A few resident cats live in the restaurant and wander between the tables, sleeping on chairs or coming over for a stroke when they choose. Upstairs is a games library with free board games and a cloud-themed corner inspired by Mario, and there is a terrace on the square. Guests are asked to stroke the cats gently and never force contact, and children under 12 must stay at the table with their parents. Tables can be reserved by text message.
Le Salon des P'Tea Chats
Le Havre, Normandy
Le Salon des P'Tea Chats is a tea room in the centre of Le Havre, on Rue de Paris a short walk from the Hôtel de Ville, where around ten cats live and roam freely among the armchairs. Opened in July 2023 as the city's first cat cafe, it presents itself as the cats' home, with visitors as their guests. The menu has hot and cold drinks, including specialty hot chocolates, cookies and homemade cakes with some vegan options, plus light savoury food. Board games are available. There is no reservation and no time limit, so the room can fill up on busy afternoons, and arriving at noon or early in the afternoon gives the best chance of a seat. House rules for children and adults are posted in the salon and on the menu, and the cats are neutered, vaccinated and followed by a feline clinic.
Le Chalaksa

Le Chalaksa is a cat cafe and tea room with a Singaporean theme on the pedestrian stretch of Rue de Lille in central Tourcoing, opened in September 2026 as the only cat cafe in the Lille metropolitan area. Run by François and Clara Delourme, it fills a newly renovated 175-square-metre space with about 46 seats spread over sofa, banquette and bar areas, and visitors come in through an airlock for the cats' safety. The cats wander freely and have a separate room to retreat to. Apart from the couple's own resident cat, they come from two local rescue associations, including Le Félinarium, and are available for adoption. Clara bakes Singaporean pastries such as pineapple tarts, pandan cake and kuih keria, served with coffee, teas, lassis and smoothies. The venue also has an Asian grocery corner and a separate cat hotel, and lunch service with Singaporean dishes is being added.
