The Cat Lounge at Glasshouse Nursery
The Cat Lounge is an enclosed cat room inside the Purrculator Cafe at the Glasshouse Nursery, a large garden centre and gift shop on Creek Road in Chatham. It opened in 2024 and is run by Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) together with the nursery. Every cat in the lounge is a PAWR shelter cat available for adoption, often an older, shy or overlooked cat that does better here than in a kennel. Visitors make a donation to PAWR for a timed session and can bring in a coffee or snack from the cafe counter, which serves espresso drinks, muffins and croissants. Adoptions are completed at the PAWR shelter on Park Avenue East, two minutes away, and the lounge reached its 100th adoption in July 2026. Many visitors combine a session with a walk through the nursery's plant displays and boutique.

Catfé Lounge
Ferndale, Michigan50 mi / 81 km
The Catfé Lounge is the cat café of the Ferndale Cat Shelter, a nonprofit rescue on Livernois Street in Ferndale, just north of 8 Mile Road. Rather than partnering with a rescue, the lounge is run by the shelter itself, so almost every cat and kitten visitors meet is available for adoption. Admission covers an hour in the lounge and a self-serve coffee, tea or juice. Reservations are recommended because weekend sessions fill quickly, and up to about 15 people share a session. Guests sign a waiver and sanitize their hands on arrival, children under 7 must be closely supervised by a parent, and cats may only be given treats handed out by volunteers. Visitors who are not looking to adopt are welcome. The shelter also runs fostering, medical care and trap-neuter-return programs for cats across metro Detroit, and adoptions can be started at the lounge.

Rosie's Kitty Catfé
Washington, Michigan50 mi / 81 km
Rosie's Kitty Catfé is a donation-based cat café in Washington Township, in northern Macomb County, located on 26 Mile Road next to a 7-Eleven just before Stony Creek Metropark. It opened in 2022 as Macomb County's first cat café and has since moved to this location. Most of its free-roaming cats and kittens come from partner Meow and Furever Cat Rescue, and all are vetted, microchipped and spayed or neutered before adoption, which can be arranged in the café or online. Visits are by appointment on a limited schedule of evenings and selected weekend days, with walk-ins welcome when there is space, so checking the online calendar before going is advisable. Coffee, tea or hot cocoa is included with the donation at the door. Guests must be 9 or older, and anyone under 15 needs an adult. Yoga with cats and painting events are held regularly.

affoGATO Cat Cafe
Cleveland, Ohio69 mi / 110 km
affoGATO Cat Cafe on Starkweather Avenue in Tremont opened in January 2019 as the first cat cafe in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. The building has two separate parts. The cafe at the entrance serves coffee made with local ingredients, local vegan pastries and merchandise, has its own air system and needs no booking, so allergic visitors can come in too. The cafe focuses on cats that are harder to place, such as middle-aged cats, mother cats, bonded pairs and cats with health needs, and all of them can be adopted. Reservations are recommended. Children under 13 may visit the cats only on Sundays. It describes itself as LGBTQ+, Latine, neurodivergent and women-owned.
