Avocato Catfé & Adoption Center
Avocato Catfé & Adoption Center is a volunteer-run cat café on Grand River Avenue in Farmington Hills, in Oakland County northwest of Detroit. It is operated by Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren (PAAW), a nonprofit rescue with no paid staff, and all proceeds go to the animals in its care. Visitors book hourly sessions in a compact lounge designed around tiny-living ideas, where adoptable cats roam freely, and a separate kitten nursery holds kittens under six months old. A self-serve coffee and tea bar and packaged snacks, including vegan options, are available. Adults and children pay different hourly rates, a second hour on the same day is discounted, and payment is electronic only. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, but a reservation guarantees entry. Many more PAAW cats and dogs live in foster homes around metro Detroit, and the café also hosts events and private parties.

Catfé Lounge
Ferndale, Michigan15 mi / 23 km
The Catfé Lounge is the cat café of the Ferndale Cat Shelter, a nonprofit rescue on Livernois Street in Ferndale, just north of 8 Mile Road. Rather than partnering with a rescue, the lounge is run by the shelter itself, so almost every cat and kitten visitors meet is available for adoption. Admission covers an hour in the lounge and a self-serve coffee, tea or juice. Reservations are recommended because weekend sessions fill quickly, and up to about 15 people share a session. Guests sign a waiver and sanitize their hands on arrival, children under 7 must be closely supervised by a parent, and cats may only be given treats handed out by volunteers. Visitors who are not looking to adopt are welcome. The shelter also runs fostering, medical care and trap-neuter-return programs for cats across metro Detroit, and adoptions can be started at the lounge.

Black Cat Beanery is a cat café inside the Orion Marketplace shopping center on South Lapeer Road in Orion Township, about eight minutes from I-75 exit 81 in northern Oakland County. Opened in October 2023, it works with its own nonprofit, Black Cat Society, which runs the shelter and keeps no more than 15 cats at a time; more than 230 have been adopted. Each visit includes at least an hour in the Cat Room, a hot drink made with house-roasted coffee or a cold drink, and a snack from the snack basket. Visitors are capped at 15 per hour so there is never more than one person per cat. Children and seniors pay less, families get a discount, and Tuesdays are discounted for everyone. Booking online guarantees a place. The café also offers memberships, cat sponsorships, private sessions and events such as paint nights.

Yay for Strays Cat Cafe
Windsor, Ontario24 mi / 38 km
Yay for Strays Cat Cafe is a cat cafe on Ottawa Street in Windsor, Ontario, which opened in February 2024 as Windsor's first cat cafe. Owner Chantelle Gaudette got the idea after seeing a cat cafe on an episode of Dragons' Den and planned the business with the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre of Windsor. The space is split into a cafe selling drinks, snacks and cat-themed merchandise, with a library of cat books and board games, and a separate cage-free cat lounge with adoptable cats, where visitors pay admission in half-hour or one-hour blocks. The cats first came from the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society; after that partnership ended, the cafe took in strays through SNAP for Cats. In August 2025 it closed for 10 days after a health unit violation for letting cats into the cafe side, which followed a cat bite to a child. It now opens only for scheduled events.

Tiny Lions Lounge & Adoption Center
Ann Arbor, Michigan24 mi / 39 km
Tiny Lions Lounge & Adoption Center is a cat lounge on Jackson Road on the west side of Ann Arbor, reached by AATA bus route 30. It is run by the Humane Society of Huron Valley, and the cats living in the lounge are adoptable through the humane society, which shows them here in a home-like setting rather than in kennels. There is free Wi-Fi, café seating and a shop of cat-themed gifts. Capacity depends on how many cats are in that day. One adult is needed for every three children under 8, toddlers visit in 30-minute slots, and teens 15 and older can come alone. Washington, Michigan25 mi / 41 km
Rosie's Kitty Catfé is a donation-based cat café in Washington Township, in northern Macomb County, located on 26 Mile Road next to a 7-Eleven just before Stony Creek Metropark. It opened in 2022 as Macomb County's first cat café and has since moved to this location. Visits are by appointment on a limited schedule of evenings and selected weekend days, with walk-ins welcome when there is space, so checking the online calendar before going is advisable. Coffee, tea or hot cocoa is included with the donation at the door. Guests must be 9 or older, and anyone under 15 needs an adult. Yoga with cats and painting events are held regularly.
