affoGATO Cat Cafe
affoGATO Cat Cafe on Starkweather Avenue in Tremont opened in January 2019 as the first cat cafe in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. The building has two separate parts. The cafe at the entrance serves coffee made with local ingredients, local vegan pastries and merchandise, has its own air system and needs no booking, so allergic visitors can come in too. Next door, the cat lounge fosters 16 to 20 cats from the Cleveland Animal Protective League, and visitors book a block of time to play, cuddle or work alongside them, drinks in hand. The cafe focuses on cats that are harder to place, such as middle-aged cats, mother cats, bonded pairs and cats with health needs, and all of them can be adopted. Reservations are recommended. Children under 13 may visit the cats only on Sundays. It describes itself as LGBTQ+, Latine, neurodivergent and women-owned.

Alleycats & Aristocats
Medina, Ohio25 mi / 41 km
Alleycats & Aristocats is a volunteer-run cat rescue and adoption center on East Smith Road in Medina, in the space that was once home to the Cats Off the Square cat cafe. Its rescue location is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, when visitors can meet and spend time with the adoptable cats and kittens, browse a gift area of items for cat lovers and order custom engraving for gifts and pet tags. Entry is free, and donations support the cats. The nonprofit takes in strays and cats that need rehoming, works with trap-neuter-return groups to place friendly cats from feral colonies, and also finds homes for retired purebred cats from breeders. Cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before adoption. Adoption applications can be submitted online, and the rescue also hosts educational events on responsible pet care.

Whimsical Whiskers CatFae & Rescue
Uniontown, Ohio37 mi / 60 km
Whimsical Whiskers CatFae & Rescue is a rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary with a cat lounge on Cleveland Avenue NW in Uniontown, between Akron and Canton. It began in June 2024 on South Arlington Road in Green and has since moved to this larger site. Many of the resident cats arrive needing medical care or time to learn to trust people, and the lounge gives them a calm place to socialise while they wait for adoption. Visitors pay a cover charge per half hour, with family, senior, teen group and monthly membership rates, and no reservation is needed. Everyone signs a waiver, which can be completed online beforehand, and a photo ID is held during the visit. Coffee, smoothies, teas and occasional treats are sold to support the cats. The CatFae's nonprofit arm, Whisper In Time Companion Rehoming, rehomes pets whose owners are entering hospice, assisted living or nursing care.

The Cat Lounge at Glasshouse Nursery
Chatham, Ontario69 mi / 110 km
The Cat Lounge is an enclosed cat room inside the Purrculator Cafe at the Glasshouse Nursery, a large garden centre and gift shop on Creek Road in Chatham. It opened in 2024 and is run by Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) together with the nursery. Every cat in the lounge is a PAWR shelter cat available for adoption, often an older, shy or overlooked cat that does better here than in a kennel. Visitors drop in without booking, make a small donation to PAWR and can bring in a coffee or snack from the cafe counter, which serves espresso drinks, muffins and croissants. Adoptions are completed at the PAWR shelter on Park Avenue East, two minutes away, and the lounge reached its 100th adoption in July 2026. Many visitors combine a session with a walk through the nursery's plant displays and boutique.
