Sand & Sea Cat Lounge
Virginia Beach
Sand & Sea Cat Lounge is a nonprofit cat lounge on First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach, near the Hilltop shopping area, run by Katie Cats Rescue in partnership with Billy the Kidden Rescue. The coastal-themed space has two rooms: the Sea Lounge, a bright room where adult cats roam freely, and the Sandbar, a playroom for kittens. Visits are booked online as 45-minute or 90-minute sessions, with lower prices for children, and private two-hour visits for small groups can be arranged by contacting the lounge. Guests must be at least 5 years old. Inside there is free Wi-Fi, calm music, cat TV, coloring and books, and a small shop of cat-themed gifts, toys and jewelry. Every cat is adoptable through an online application, and more than 80 have been adopted so far. Monthly events include craft nights, kitty yoga and bingo.

Catty Corner Café
Leesburg, Virginia
Catty Corner Café is a cat lounge on East Market Street in historic downtown Leesburg, Loudoun County, run by owner Heather Donahue, a former cat foster. The ground floor has a small shop with cat-themed items and local art, and the cat lounge is upstairs on the second floor, with no elevator. A one-hour visit is charged per person and includes a hot or cold drink and a freshly baked cookie. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are encouraged. Families are welcome, and children of all ages can visit with parental supervision as long as they are gentle with the cats. Around 15 cats live in the lounge, all available for adoption through Last Chance Animal Rescue, which handles applications, and more than 200 have been adopted. Private events and cat yoga are offered. Parking is in nearby public garages, not the private lots beside the building.

Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar
Alexandria, Virginia
Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar is a colonial-themed cat cafe a few steps from King Street in Old Town Alexandria, opened in July 2020. Downstairs is a cafe and wine bar open to anyone without a ticket, serving coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, cookies and cookie dough along with wine, beer, cider, mead and seltzer. The cat room is a separate lounge where adoptable rescue cats roam freely. They come through Canines and Kitties Rescue, mostly from shelters in Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas, West Virginia and Tennessee. The cafe deliberately does not house young kittens, and the youngest cats are about six months old. Hourly reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, and 30-minute walk-in visits, daily passes and monthly passes are also offered. Children under 5 are not allowed in the cat room, and from 6 PM on Thursday to Saturday it is for adults 18 and over.

Purrista Cat Cafe
Erie, Pennsylvania
Purrista Cat Cafe is Erie's first cat cafe, on West 8th Street downtown, a block from Perry Square. Founded by Erie native Dena Rupp and opened in March 2022, it pairs a coffee bar serving local coffee, tea and baked goods with a separate cat lounge behind a glass wall and double doors. The lounge is home to adoptable cats from Because You Care, a no-kill rescue in McKean, and several hundred have been adopted through the cafe. Lounge visits are paid, timed sessions limited to 12 people at a time, so booking online is recommended, while the cafe side needs no reservation and has a viewing window into the cat room. Children 7 and older are welcome in the lounge, with an adult for ages 7 to 13, and guests remove their shoes. The cafe also holds events such as yoga with cats.

Kitty Bubble Cafe & Bar
Columbus, Ohio
Kitty Bubble Cafe & Bar is a cat cafe on North High Street at the northern edge of Clintonville, near Worthington, that opened in August 2022 as Columbus's only cat cafe. The cafe and bar side serves bubble tea, coffee, beer, wine, sake, cocktails, macarons and other snacks, for dine-in or takeaway, with no ticket needed. A separate cat lounge holds free-roaming adoptable cats from the rescue Colony Cats, and visits are booked as 55-minute sessions. Tickets are best bought in advance, since walk-ins are turned away when the lounge is full. Lounge sessions run in two blocks each open day, with a break in between, and the cafe is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Adoptions go through Colony Cats. Regular events in the lounge include yoga with the cats, bingo nights, paint-your-pet classes and holiday wreath workshops, often raising money for the rescue.

Whiskers Catnip Cottage
Granville, Ohio
Whiskers Catnip Cottage is the cat cafe of Whiskers Animal Rescue, an all-volunteer nonprofit in Granville that rescues, fosters and rehomes cats across Licking County. The cottage on Columbus Road, between Granville and Newark, is home to adoptable cats from the rescue and has a small retail area and snack bar. A per-person admission fee goes to the cats' food, litter and medical care and the upkeep of the space. It is open Friday to Sunday, with last admission an hour before closing. Booking a slot online is preferred, and walk-ins are welcome when there is room. Shoes stay at the door and socks are required. There is no minimum age, but children under 14 must be supervised, with one adult for every three children. People hoping to adopt are asked to apply before visiting, and kittens are usually adopted in pairs. Private parties can be arranged outside regular hours.

Frisky Kitty Cat Cafe
Fredericksburg, Texas
Frisky Kitty Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge on East Main Street in Fredericksburg, in the Texas Hill Country. Owner April Laird opened it on May 23, 2026, and runs it with her daughter as her business partner. The cats come from local Hill Country rescues, which also provide their veterinary care, and they are available for adoption. The cat room is enclosed in glass and kept separate from the coffee bar, so you can order a coffee or tea and watch the cats before heading in to meet them. Nothing is cooked on site; cookies and other baked goods come from local bakeries. There is also a gift shop with cat-themed merchandise. It is open Monday to Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM, and there is free parking in the lot and on the street.

Cats at Play Café
Asheville, North Carolina
Cats at Play Café is a cat cafe, coffee shop and cat-themed boutique on Eagle Street in downtown Asheville, opened in May 2023 as the city's first cat cafe. It is a foster home for adoptable cats from two rescue partners, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue in Rutherfordton, and more than 600 cats have passed through it. The cafe serves coffee from Kitty Town Coffee, matcha drinks, tea, beer, wine, mocktails and snacks, and anyone can visit the cafe and shop without going into the cat lounge. Lounge visits carry an entrance fee that goes entirely to the cats' care; walk-ins are taken when there is room, but reservations are recommended. Special Kiddie Kitty Time sessions for families with young children run on Saturday and Monday mornings. Some adoption fees are sponsored, and service dogs are not allowed in the cat lounge.

Sassy Cat Club Cafe
Brandon, Florida
Sassy Cat Club Cafe is a cat lounge in a shopping plaza on West Lumsden Road in Brandon, east of Tampa. It is run by a veterinary technician and partners with A Kitten Place Rescue, which supplies the adoptable cats and kittens that live in the lounge. Visitors pay an admission fee for a one-hour visit or a shorter 30-minute pop-in, and children under two enter free. Children five and under start with a 30-minute visit, and children under 13 must be supervised by a paying adult. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, but walk-ins are accepted when there is space. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cold drinks are available, guests may bring their own drink or food from plaza restaurants, and free WiFi makes it a common spot for studying and remote work. It also hosts parties and is closed on Wednesdays.

Cats & Caffeine is a cat cafe and kitten lounge on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa. Opened in summer 2022 as Tampa's first cat cafe, it is a women-owned business with a pink interior that serves coffee drinks and sweet snacks. Visits are booked as one-hour sessions in a lounge full of adoptable cats and kittens, and because the number of guests per session is capped, booking ahead is strongly recommended and walk-ins are limited. All the cats are rescues from the nonprofit Purrs & Whiskers Inc. and live in the lounge until they are adopted; adoption applications are filled out in person during a visit. The cafe hosts monthly kitten yoga, movie nights and family visits, and the whole lounge can be booked for private parties. It is closed on Mondays and takes a midday break on Fridays to Sundays.

The Witty Whisker Cat Cafe
St Augustine, Florida
The Witty Whisker Cat Cafe is a cat cafe in a Victorian-era house on Old Mission Avenue in uptown St. Augustine, across from the Mission Nombre de Dios and the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, beside the Limelight Theatre. It moved here from North Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The cafe serves coffee, wine, cupcakes and snacks and is free to enter, with views of the cats. The cat lounge spans two floors of the house, and an hourly admission fee per person covers the cats' care. Reservations are recommended; walk-ins join a waiting list. Everyone signs a waiver, the lounge is shoe-free, so guests wear grip socks, and children 12 and under need an adult, with no more than three per adult. The cats come from Feline Canopy of Care, a local nonprofit rescue, which handles adoptions. Events include painting nights and sound baths.

House of Black Cat Magic
Asheville, North Carolina
House of Black Cat Magic is a metaphysical supply shop and black cat lounge on Haywood Road in West Asheville, opened in May 2023. It works with Binx's Home for Black Cats, a nonprofit, and Miss Dixie's Kitten Rescue to raise awareness of black cats, which are often passed over, and every cat in the lounge is available for adoption. The shop sells candles, incense, herbs, books and ritual tools, many sourced locally, and visitors pay a fee to spend time with the cats in a cage-free lounge. Reservations are encouraged but not required, and groups of six or more book a party package. Children 10 and older may visit with a parent at any time, teens 14 and up may go in alone, and families with younger children can use daily kiddy hours, which run all day on Sundays. The building has a ramp entrance and public restrooms.
