Frisky ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​​‌‌​​‌‌​​‌​‌​​​‌​‌​‌​​​​‌‌⁠Business Palm Springs Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge on East Palm Canyon Drive in south Palm Springs, and the first cat cafe in the Coachella Valley. It opened in December 2022, founded by Claire and Sonny, known to regulars as Mrs. and Mr. Frisky. The cats come exclusively from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and live in a mid-century modern lounge separated from the coffee bar by large windows, so guests with allergies can watch from the cafe side. Visits to the lounge are paid, timed sessions of 45 minutes that include a handcrafted drink, with shorter sessions also offered; booking ahead is recommended, though walk-ins are accepted when space allows. Staff help visitors complete the shelter's adoption application on site. The cafe serves coffee, tea and pastries, sells Palm Springs cat artwork and merchandise, hosts community events and is a recognized neurodiverse-inclusive workplace.

Whitewater, Wisconsin

BaristaCats ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌‌​⁠Café & Sanctuary for Wayward Cats is a nonprofit cat cafe and rescue on West Center Street in downtown Whitewater. Founder Natalie Serna opened it in February 2023 after visiting cat cafes across England, and it has rehomed more than 270 cats, working with several partner rescues and processing adoptions on site. Visitors spend time with the cats in the Pawlor, which holds 10 guests at a time, paying by the half hour or hour. Reservations are expected, walk-ins are taken when there is space and the last hour of the day is reservation only. Children 10 and under are not admitted, and guests aged 11 to 17 need an adult. There is no kitchen; the cafe serves a house blend from Lake Geneva Coffee Roastery, Harney & Sons teas, hot chocolate and packaged snacks with vegan, keto and gluten-free options. Student memberships are available.

Bozeman, Montana

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌​​​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌​​⁠Show Cat Café is a nonprofit cat lounge upstairs in The Market building at Ferguson Farm, above the Garden Barn plant and gift shop. Opened in November 2020 as Montana's first cat cafe, it is home to eight permanent resident cats who roam a large room with rafters to climb, an exercise wheel and big bean bags. The cats are not currently up for adoption. Visitors check in downstairs, wash their hands and pay a per-person entry fee for a day pass; reservations are encouraged because only 10 guests are allowed upstairs at once, and walk-ins may have to wait. No food or drink is sold, but guests can bring coffee or snacks from the businesses in The Market. Visitors must be 10 or older, with one adult per child under 16. Cat treats are sold on site, and guests can add drawings to an art scrapbook.

Tiverton, Rhode Island

Bajah's ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​​​​‌‌‌​‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌​​‌​​‌⁠Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat adoption lounge on Main Road in Tiverton, near the Fall River line. Opened in 2021 by Amanda Souza-Viera as Rhode Island's first cat cafe, it serves coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and light lunches, and the cafe is open to everyone without a reservation. The separate cat room, called Bajah's Villas, holds adoptable cats of various ages from partner shelters, and several hundred have been adopted since opening. Cat room time is charged per half hour in a shared room, and private sessions can be booked on weekdays. Reservations are required at weekends; on weekdays walk-ins are accepted when there is space. Visitors remove their shoes or wipe them on a treated mat before entering. It reopened in January 2025 in partnership with the Rhode Island SPCA after a closure in December 2024.

Pittsburg, Kansas

The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌‌​​​‌​​​‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​​‌‌​⁠Literary Cat Co. is an independent bookstore and cat lounge on North Broadway in downtown Pittsburg, in southeast Kansas. It works like a regular bookshop, with a curated selection of new books, special orders, gifts from small makers, and coffee or tea to drink in comfortable reading chairs, but it is also a foster home for up to 10 adoptable cats who live and roam freely in the store. The cats come fully vetted from SEK Animal Advocates, a local foster-based rescue and spay and neuter group, and visitors can apply to adopt them. There is no separate cat room and no entry fee, although donations toward the cats' care are welcome. A few resident cats live there too. The shop can be reserved for birthday parties, bridal showers and other events, and it runs book registries for special occasions.

Lenoir, North Carolina

Brews ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​​​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌‌‌​⁠and Mews Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat cafe on Main Street in downtown Lenoir, across from the Caldwell County courthouse, and was the first cat cafe in western North Carolina. The coffee shop is separate from the cat room and serves locally roasted coffee, specialty lattes, house-made boba, slushies, teas, lemonade and baked treats. The cat room is booked for one-hour sessions, online or in person, and holds up to 10 guests aged 7 and up; under-16s need an adult in the room and under-18s need a parent to sign the waiver, which is completed on every visit. Families with children 6 and under can book shorter 30-minute sessions at set times. Guests may pet the cats but not pick them up. The cats come from local animal shelters and the cafe's own rescue, The Purrole Office, and all are available for adoption.

Gastonia, North Carolina

Cool ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌​​​​‌‌​‌‌‌​‌‌​‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​​‌‌⁠Beans Cat Cafe, which bills itself as Gaston County's first cat cafe, is set in a converted house with a front porch and parking on South Chester Street in downtown Gastonia, across from the county government buildings. The coffee shop serves espresso drinks, tea and other drinks with baked goods and snacks, and there is a small shop area and a shelf of books. In a separate cat room, visitors spend time with a small group of adoptable rescue cats, some of them with special needs. Color-coded collars show which cats are happy to be approached. Cat room visits are charged per person for 30 minutes or an hour, and children are welcome. The cafe opened on East Main Avenue and moved to the house in spring 2025 under new owner Jenny Motes, who has added events such as live music and paint-and-sip evenings.

Belmont, North Carolina

Whiskerville ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​​​‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌‌​​​‌‌⁠Kitty Cat Cafe is Belmont's only cat cafe, on Beaty Road west of Charlotte. Foster cats and kittens live in a cage-free Kitty Cat Lounge while they wait for adoption, in partnership with Cat Smart Coalition, a Gaston County trap-neuter-return group whose volunteers raise the cats until they are fully vaccinated. Visits to the lounge are paid by admission and can be booked online; walk-ins are taken when there is room, since guest numbers are limited. Everyone entering signs a waiver, children of any age are welcome with a parent, and visitors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Cats are not to be picked up. It is not a full cafe: there is a self-serve coffee and tea bar, a drinks cooler and prepackaged snacks, plus a cat-themed gift shop. The owner also hosts crafts, painting, yoga and book club events.

Carthage, North Carolina

Kitten ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​‌‌​‌​​​‌​‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​⁠Around Cat Lounge is Moore County's first cat cafe, on Courthouse Square in historic downtown Carthage. The building is split between a coffeehouse with locally roasted drip coffee, bubble tea, hot cocoa and baked goods from bakeries in Aberdeen, and a cage-free cat playroom where guests play with and cuddle adoptable cats. Usually about eight cats live in the lounge, never more than ten, and all are fully vetted and come from three partner rescues including Feline Friends of Moore County. The playroom holds six or seven guests at a time, so reservations are encouraged although not required. Children from age 2 are welcome; under-14s need an adult with them and under-18s need a parent's waiver. Visitors can also watch the cats from the cafe. The lounge offers room bookings for small groups and events such as paint nights with the cats.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Hearts ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​​​​‌‌​‌‌​​​​​​‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌​​‌​⁠Alive Village Cat Cafe is the cat lounge of Hearts Alive Village, a Las Vegas nonprofit that also runs low-cost vet clinics, foster programs and an adoption center. It is on South Rainbow Boulevard near West Oakey Boulevard in the west valley, in a former pet supply store that became the cat cafe in 2022 and has since been remodeled. Around 30 adoptable cats and kittens, many with difficult beginnings, roam several rooms with seating areas. Entry is a tax-deductible donation for a one-hour visit and includes a pre-packaged snack and a drink. Appointments are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome, and the last entry is at 4 PM. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian, with no more than two minors per adult. There are no same-day adoptions: adopters apply online first. Cat yoga and other events are held in the lounge.

Syracuse, New York

Luna ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌​​‌‌​‌‌‌​‌‌⁠Cat Cafe is a Japanese-style cat lounge and restaurant at the corner of East Fayette Street and South Crouse Avenue in Syracuse, a few blocks from the Syracuse University campus. Opened in August 2021, it serves Japanese and Midwestern dishes such as okonomiyaki pizza, takoyaki and onigiri, along with coffee and a wide range of bubble teas, and the dining room is free to use. A separate lounge holds adoptable cats from the Central New York Cat Coalition, which handles adoptions. Visits to the lounge are paid by the half hour, the hour or as an unlimited pass, with reduced rates for students and first responders, and a waiver is required. Reservations are not needed except for groups larger than five. On Mondays and Tuesdays only drinks are served. The cafe also hosts events, including the free LunaCon Japanese culture festival each September.

Cats and kittens come from partner rescues, and the space has two cat rooms: a kitten room for high-energy visits and a calmer lounge for adult cats. The cafe side serves espresso drinks, tea, lemonade, seasonal specials, pastries and small bites. Cat room visits are booked online and every guest signs a waiver; under-16s need a parent's signature and under-13s must be with an adult. Adoption applications are reviewed with the partner rescue, which makes the final decision. The cafe also offers high tea with the cats and private events.
