Café ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌​‌​​​‌‌​‌⁠Félin Ma Langue Aux Chats is a cat cafe on Rue Saint-Paul in the Vieux-Port area of Old Québec, near the Marché du Vieux-Port and the Old Port waterfront. The cafe is decorated like a chalet living room, and its resident animals are 14 purebred cats and one small dog that roam freely among the tables. There is no separate cat room: visitors order from the menu of coffee, tea, lattes, homemade lemonade, hot chocolate, desserts, paninis, grilled cheese, soups and salads, with vegetarian and vegan options, and the cats come and go as they please. Shoes are removed in the entrance vestibule, children are welcome if supervised, and the cats are not for adoption. The cafe opened in 2015, and its owner, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran who took it over in 2019, runs it with an animal-therapy mission and employs people on the autism spectrum or living with mental health conditions. It is open every day.

Café ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​​​‌‌​​​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​⁠Chat L'Heureux, also known as Happy Cat Café, is a cat cafe and restaurant on Avenue Duluth Est in the Plateau-Mont-Royal, a short walk from Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Opened in 2014, it was one of the first cat cafes in North America and is the original of its two branches. About eight resident cats, all adopted from shelters in Greater Montreal, roam the dining room, and since 2015 the cafe has also fostered young cats from the Proanima shelter in Boucherville until they are adopted. There is no booking: visitors walk in, order from a homemade menu of sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, smoothies and coffee, with waits likely on weekend afternoons. House rules ask guests not to pick up, wake or feed the cats, to avoid camera flash and to supervise children. In winter, shoes come off at the door because road salt is toxic to cats.

The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌​​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​​‌​​‌‌‌​‌​​‌‌‌​⁠Rue Ontario branch of Café Chat L'Heureux is a cat cafe and restaurant on Rue Ontario Est in Centre-Sud, on the edge of Montreal's Village. It opened in October 2024 as the second location of the Plateau cat cafe that has operated on Avenue Duluth since 2014, in a space designed around the cats, with climbing areas and quiet zones out of reach of visitors. The cats come from shelters in Greater Montreal; some are permanent residents, while others are young cats from the Proanima shelter that can be adopted. The menu is the same as at the original cafe, with homemade sandwiches, grilled cheese, soups, desserts, smoothies, coffee and vegan options. There are no reservations or entry fee, and visitors can stay as long as they like. Guests are asked not to pick up, wake or feed the cats and to keep children supervised.

Verdun, Quebec

Café ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​​​‌​​​​​​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​​​‌​‌​⁠Chato is a vegetarian cat cafe on Rue de Verdun, the main commercial street of Montreal's Verdun borough. Opened in 2018 and run as a cooperative, it works exclusively with Refuge Animex, and every cat in the cafe is available for adoption. Around ten cats live there at a time, so the residents change as they find homes. Cats roam freely among the tables, and the back of the cafe is reserved as a quiet area for them and the staff. There is no entry fee or booking: visitors order coffee, pastries or vegetarian dishes such as paninis, soups and curry, and purchases help fund the cats' care. Rules ask guests not to pick up or feed the cats, to keep noise down and to supervise children. Wi-Fi and outlets make it popular for studying, and private events can be booked after hours.

Beauharnois, Quebec

Les ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌​​​​‌‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌​​​‌‌​‌​​​​⁠Félins Gourmets is a cat cafe on Rue Ellice in Beauharnois, in the Beauharnois-Salaberry area southwest of Montreal. Opened in May 2025, it is a calm, cozy cafe where the cats live full time and roam the dining room while visitors eat. Several of the cats are rescues, some found as strays, and they are available for adoption under an arrangement with the rescue group Amiaou, with new arrivals introduced on the cafe's social media. The menu covers breakfast, lunch and drinks, with homemade dishes such as grilled cheese, coffee and lemonade at modest prices. Visitors can pet and play with the cats but are asked not to pick them up. The cafe is open from Thursday to Sunday, and children are welcome.

Café ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​‌​​​‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌⁠Félin Chats-Nous is a small cat cafe on Rue Saint-Olivier in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighbourhood of Québec's Haute-Ville, a few minutes' walk from Rue Saint-Jean and the walls of Old Québec. It opened in March 2020 in a former corner store, and a mural on Rue Saint-Olivier recalls the neighbourhood's old Poulin grocery. Seven resident cats live in the cafe and wander freely among the tables, often lounging in the front windows. There is no entry fee; visitors order from a cafe menu of paninis, soups, salads, pastries, coffee drinks, smoothies and homemade lemonade, and on weekends a brunch menu of waffles, crêpes and French toast is served, with reservations taken by phone. Board games are available. The cafe is closed on Mondays.

Levis, Quebec

Le ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​​‌​​​​‌​​‌​​‌‌‌​‌⁠Café Refuge is a specialty coffee shop and cat adoption cafe on Route des Rivières in the Saint-Rédempteur sector of Lévis, on the south shore across the Pont de Québec from Québec City. Opened in June 2025, it serves third-wave coffee, homemade sandwiches and pastries in a bright cafe room, with a glass-walled cat space in the middle of the cafe where visitors can go in to meet and pet the cats. The cats come from the SPA de Lévis, which arranges adoptions; around eight cats usually live in the cat space at a time, and when all have been adopted there may briefly be none. Visitors simply buy something from the cafe, and children are welcome as long as they stay with an adult and follow the cat-space rules. Board games are available, and a small boutique sells handmade cat-themed items. The cafe is open every day.

Refuge ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​​​​‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌⁠de la Faune de l'Estrie is a non-profit animal shelter on Rue Achille-Barrière in Sherbrooke that works alongside Refuge Le Château, a cat shelter with a cat cafe corner, Café Chat L'Étoile. The cats live uncaged in a large, bright room where visitors can sit with them over a coffee or another drink, and they can be adopted by appointment. The shelter also cares for dogs, small animals and injured wildlife. Its social media is not updated often, so phone (819) 432-5599 before visiting.

Beauceville, Quebec

ChatFé ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​​​​​​‌​​​‌​​​​​​​​​‌‌‌​‌​‌​‌​⁠is a volunteer-run cat cafe in Beauceville, in the Beauce region south of Québec City, operated by Refuge Ami-Maux, a shelter for stray cats. It opened in June 2023. Visitors buy a drink or snack or make a donation, in cash only, then spend time with the shelter's kittens, juniors and adult cats in a bright room where the cats mix freely with guests. Most of the cats are up for adoption, alongside a few permanent residents, and adoptions can be arranged on site; the money raised goes straight to rescuing and caring for stray cats in the Beauce. Cat-themed products are sold as well. The volunteers put the cats' health and safety first, so visitors are asked to follow their guidance; children must be over 6 and come with an adult, and shoes come off. Opening hours vary with volunteer availability and are posted on Refuge Ami-Maux's Facebook page and the ChatFé Instagram account, so it is best to check before visiting.
