Guests sanitise their hands before entering the cat area, and lint rollers are provided on the way out; staff like to share each cat's name and story. Admission is by time slot and includes a drink and ice cream; prices are higher than at most JB cat cafes, and there is a pet shop on site. It is a good choice for mixed groups where some prefer dogs and others cats. HOME is run by Tales of Paws, which also has a grooming shop in Taman Molek.
Memo Koice Pet Cafe
Johor Bahru
Memo Koice Pet Cafe is an animal cafe on Jalan Austin Heights 7/7 in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, a short walk from several other Mount Austin cat cafes. Cats share the space with a mix of other animals here: besides a dog enclosure, there is a cat room where guests can sit among five or six hairless Sphynx cats, a Persian, a British Shorthair, a Ragdoll and other friendly cats, some of which will actively compete for attention. Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, hedgehogs and ducks complete the line-up, so it suits families with children who want to meet several kinds of animals in one visit. Guests can relax with a drink while the animals wander around them. The space is fairly compact and litter boxes sit in the animal areas, so visitors with allergies should take note.
IMIAOU CATFE
Iskandar Puteri, Johor
IMIAOU CATFE is a newly opened cat cafe in the Eco Botanic neighbourhood of Iskandar Puteri, on Jalan Eko Botani 3/5. Around 18 resident cats, mostly young, playful and very well groomed, share the bright and spacious cafe with guests. No reservation is needed: walk in, order a drink, and stay to spend time with the cats. The menu focuses on specialty coffee, handcrafted beverages, teas and cakes, with no pork and no lard. The cafe describes itself as a cafe, not a playground: the cats feel safest when it is calm, so running and noisy play are not allowed, and it is not suitable for children under six. The space is kept exceptionally clean, with remarkably little fur or smell for a room full of cats, and the owners are friendly and happy to chat about each cat. It makes a peaceful stop after lunch elsewhere in Eco Botanic.
Check each cafe's website for current hours, booking requirements and age restrictions before visiting.
