Hawai'i ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​​​​‌‌​​‌⁠Cat Cafe is a rescue cat cafe on Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu, next to the Texaco gas station on the edge of Waikiki. Opened in 2018 as the first cat cafe in Hawai'i, it has a coffee bar serving locally roasted coffee, teas, matcha, lemonade and fresh pastries, and a separate cat lounge with around 25 adoptable cats and kittens from the Hawaiian Humane Society. The cats roam the lounge freely, also at night. Lounge visits are charged per timed session, drinks and food are bought separately, and walk-ins are welcome, though booking online is recommended because numbers are limited. Children 15 and under must come with an adult. Cats can be adopted during a visit, often on the same day, and the cafe helps visitors to Oahu take a cat home. Private lounge parties are available, and a second branch is at Waikiki Beach Walk.

Hawai'i ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​​​‌​​‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌⁠Cat Cafe Waikiki Beach Walk is the second branch of Hawai'i Cat Cafe, opened in May 2026 on the second floor of Waikiki Beach Walk on Lewers Street, past Ruth's Chris and near Liliha Bakery, with escalators and elevators by the ABC Store and Yard House. Like the original cafe in Kapahulu, it is a cat lounge for adoptable rescue cats and kittens taken in from around Oahu, and every visit supports the cafe's work of finding them homes and reducing euthanasia in local shelters. Visits are charged per 30- or 60-minute session, walk-ins are welcome and sessions can be booked online. The cafe sells drinks, including some flavors unique to Hawai'i, and cat merchandise. Adoptions can be arranged during a visit, and staff help visitors from the mainland take a cat home on the plane. It is open every day until 9pm.

Pounce ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌​​​​‌​‌‌‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​‌​‌‌⁠Hawaii is a cat hotel, grooming spa and cat adoption lounge on Queen Street in Kakaʻako, Honolulu, founded in 2019 by Boretta Lim and Erin Weiman. Its cage-free hotel has 31 private suites for boarding cats, the spa offers baths, haircuts, nail trims and de-shedding, and a small shop sells cat supplies. The adoption lounge is an offsite adoption location for the Hawaiian Humane Society, whose cats can be adopted on the spot. Lounge visits are booked in advance (no walk-ins). A ticket costs $20 for a 90-minute session, with up to six guests per time slot, and includes a free drink or a bag of cat treats for the cats; visitors under 18 need an adult and their own ticket. Payment is by card only. More than 700 cats have been adopted through the lounge. It also offers a pet taxi service to take cats to and from homes and the airport.

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌‌​​‌​​‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌⁠Café MOFF International Market Place is a cat cafe inside the International Market Place shopping center on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. Opened in September 2023 as the first US branch of Japan's MOFF animal cafe company, it is home to about 20 resident pedigree cats brought over from Japan, including Scottish Folds, Ragdolls, a Himalayan, a Russian Blue, a Minuet and a Maine Coon, each with a Hawaiian name. The cats live at the cafe for life and are not sold or adopted out. Visitors sign a waiver and buy a 30- or 60-minute ticket that includes one drink, and can buy treats to feed the cats. Collar colors show how each cat likes to be handled, and staff explain the rules on entry. Walk-ins are welcome, and this is the only MOFF branch in Hawai'i that also takes advance bookings. Kama'aina and military visitors get a discount.

The cats live at the cafe for life and are not sold or adopted out. Visitors sign a waiver, then buy a 30- or 60-minute ticket that includes one drink, chosen from a menu exclusive to this branch with coffee, americano, cappuccino, latte, tea, juice, soda and water. Treats can be bought to feed the cats, and staff explain how to handle them. There are no reservations here; visitors simply walk in. Kama'aina and military visitors get a discount. A second Honolulu branch is at the International Market Place in Waikiki.

Lihue, Hawaii

TropiCats ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌​‌‌‌​​​‌‌​‌​​​‌​​‌‌​‌​‌‌​⁠is the first cat cafe on Kaua'i, on the lower level of Harbor Mall on Rice Street in Nawiliwili, Lihue. Opened in September 2023, it houses adoptable cats from the Kauai Community Cat Project, usually around ten to a dozen, in a play room that holds all the cats and up to ten visitors at a time. No appointment is needed: visitors walk in and pay per person for 30 minutes or an hour, young children enter free, and socks are worn in the cat room. The in-house cafe serves coffee drinks from Kauai Coffee and pastries from Kauai Bakery, and there is free wifi and a shop with cat-themed gifts. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and adoptions are donation based, including for visitors from off island. Cat yoga, birthday parties and meetings can be booked.

Kahului, Hawaii

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌​​​‌‌​‌​​​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​​​‌‌‌​⁠Cafe Maui is a rescue cat lounge on the second floor of Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului, near Kahului Airport. Founded by Moriah Diamond, it opened in August 2022 as the first cat cafe on Maui and is run with the nonprofit Maui Cat Rescue in partnership with the Maui Humane Society. Visitors book a session of about 50 minutes in the cat lounge, which is entered through a separate door, and get complimentary coffee or tea and wifi. Walk-ins are accepted when space allows. Everyone signs a waiver, one adult must accompany every two children under 15, and clean socks are required, with cat-print pairs sold in the gift shop. All cats are adoptable, more than 1,000 have found homes, and the Fly Hawaii Cat program matches travelers with cats flying to adopters on the mainland. Events include cat yoga, kitty bingo, movie nights and sound baths.

Lanai City, Hawaii

Lāna'i ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​​​​‌‌‌​​​​​‌‌​​​‌‌​​⁠Cat Sanctuary is a nonprofit open-air cat sanctuary on four acres near Lanai City, about five minutes from Lanai Airport. Founded in 2006 by Kathy Carroll with 25 cats and an old horse corral, it is now home to around 700 rescue cats, known as the Lanai Lions, and has saved more than 3,000 cats. It is not a cafe: visitors walk among the free-roaming cats inside a fenced enclosure about the size of half a football field. Entry is free, donations are welcome, no appointment is needed, and it is open every day. There is no food or drink for sale, so visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic. Every cat has a name, a microchip and a medical record, and the sanctuary also protects the island's ground-nesting seabirds. Many visitors arrive by ferry from Maui. Cats can be adopted or sponsored.

Toe ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​‌​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌⁠Beans & Dreams Adoption Cafe is a cat cafe in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center on Kamehameha Highway in Aiea, close to Pearl Harbor. It works with KAT Charities, a nonprofit rescue: the friendly cats and kittens trapped on Oahu's streets during weekly trap-neuter-return outings move into the cafe's kitty lounges once they are healthy and fixed. There are two lounges, one for playful kittens and one for calmer adult cats, with an upstairs area where the cats can retreat. Visits last 50 minutes and include cat treats, with a lower price for online bookings than for walk-ins, and children need adult supervision. The cafe serves build-your-own sandwiches, coffee and other drinks, and offers monthly memberships, birthday parties and a monthly kitten tea. It also provides jobs and training for young adults with developmental disabilities. All cats are adoptable, and more than 1,100 have been adopted.

Kailua Kona, Hawaii

Kona ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​​​​​​‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌⁠Kat Cafe is the cat cafe of the Big Island, on Ali'i Drive in downtown Kailua-Kona, at street level beneath Pancho & Lefty's restaurant, across from the historic Kona Inn. Opened in November 2023 by Jenny and Carl Hulen, it combines a cat-themed gift shop, packaged snacks and drinks with the Catio, a separate lounge where around 12 to 20 rescue kittens and cats live while they wait for homes. Most come from CatSnip, a spay and neuter nonprofit in Kapa'au. Catio visits last an hour and are charged per person, with lower rates for seniors, children and kama'aina. Reservations are recommended and walk-ins depend on space. Visitors must be at least 7, children under 11 need an adult, and socks are required. More than 300 cats have been adopted, including by visitors who fly them home. Monthly events include cat yoga, painting and cat tai chi.

Haiku, Hawaii

Surf ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​​‌​‌​‌​​‌​​‌‌​​‌‌​‌‌‌‌⁠Cat Ranch is a nonprofit cat sanctuary on nearly eight acres off Kokomo Road in Haiku, on Maui's north shore. It gives a permanent home to feral, community and hard-to-place cats from around the island, including cats displaced by the 2023 Lahaina fire, and currently cares for more than 300 of them in fenced enclosures. The sanctuary also runs a trap-neuter-return program across Maui and refers tame cats and kittens to the local humane society, though a few of its own cats are listed for adoption or sponsorship. It is not a cafe: visitors book a guided tour of the grounds with the owners or volunteers and spend time petting and playing with the cats, and a donation is expected. Tours run on weekday mornings by reservation, and the gate closes at noon. Visitors may bring cat treats.
