Petit Gatô
Maringa, Paraná
Petit Gatô is a cat cafe on Avenida Herval in Zona 07, Maringá, and the first in the city, open since 2024. It works with local animal protection groups and the city to take in rescued cats, which live in a separate glass-fronted cat room that diners can watch from their tables. Visitors pay a small fee for 15-minute sessions inside the room, and the money goes to the cats' care. All the cats are available for adoption, with an interview as part of the process. The menu includes specialty coffee, cappuccino, teas, toasts, focaccia, stuffed pão de queijo, salads, a cat-faced cake, a house brunch and petit gâteau, the dish the cafe is named after. Frodo Gato & Café
Passo Fundo, Rio Grande Do Sul
Frodo Gato & Café is a small cat-themed cafe on Rua General Canabarro in the centre of Passo Fundo. It calls itself the city's first cat cafe. The menu has hot and iced coffee drinks, cappuccinos, pies, banoffee, jams and savoury snacks, including cat-shaped treats, and it also delivers through iFood. The resident cats, which have included Capuccino and Baunilha, live in a small room separate from the cafe. Visitors pay to go into the room for a timed session. There are only a few cats, often two or three, so this is a quieter and more modest set-up than the larger adoption cafes. The cafe takes reservations, is popular with students and works well for laptop work. It opens on Tuesday to Friday afternoons and on Saturdays from mid-morning, and it sometimes opens on Sundays, which it announces on Instagram.
Gato & Grão
Recife, Pernambuco
Gato & Grão is the first cat cafe in Recife, opened in November 2025 on Rua Quarenta e Oito in Aflitos, a residential neighbourhood in the city's north zone. The cafe and the cats are kept apart: food and drinks are served in the main room, and visitors pay a separate fee, charged by time in blocks from 15 minutes to an hour, to enter a cat room fitted out for the animals. The cats are rescues from the local group Cantinho Filó, and all are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for FIV and FeLV before they arrive. They are available for adoption, and the cafe has rehomed more than a hundred cats. The menu covers coffee drinks, milkshakes, croissants, crepes, burgers and desserts, with weekday two-for-one promotions on set items. Tables can be booked online, and the cafe is closed on Mondays.

The cats live in a separate room next to the cafe, visible through glass from the tables, and visitors who want to go in and play with them pay a small entry fee that goes toward their care. All the cats are rescued by the local protection group Manjedoura Aju, and they are neutered, dewormed and tested for FIV before being put up for responsible adoption. The kitchen serves coffees, juices, tapiocas, omelettes, sandwiches, toasts, savoury snacks and cakes, with vegan options and cat-shaped desserts. There is also a small shop with cat-themed gifts and hand-painted pictures, and the cafe hosts workshops and Sunday-morning yoga.
