Old House Rescue Cat Cafe Tsumugino
Tsumugino is a rescue cat cafe in a renovated traditional house in Nagahara, in the hills of inland Hatsukaichi, best reached by car and with free parking. About 12 to 15 rescued cats, given up by owners or taken in as strays, are in the cafe at any one time, chosen according to their health and how they get on with each other; others waiting for homes can be shown on request. A few resident cats are not up for adoption. Adoption involves an interview and a trial period. Entry is charged per hour for visitors of elementary school age and older, with drinks extra, and reservations can be made online. The cafe normally opens on Saturdays and Sundays only, with occasional closures, so it is worth checking Instagram for the current schedule.
