Senior Rescue Cat Cafe Shhh...
Shhh... is a rescue cat cafe in Taigenzan, Hatsukaichi, devoted entirely to senior cats. Opened in January 2024, it takes in cats over ten years old from partner shelters, where older cats are rarely adopted, and looks for final homes for them. About ten seniors live in a second-floor room with seats facing the sea and Miyajima on one side and quieter sofa corners on the road side, linked by a catwalk. Visitors pay an entry charge per 30 minutes or hour plus one drink, and are asked to keep their voices down, as the name suggests. Bookings take priority, and the cafe may close early after 6 PM if no one has reserved; it also closes at short notice when a cat needs a vet visit. Only visitors of junior high school age and older are admitted. It is closed on Wednesdays.
