Kokura Nekocyaya

Kokura Nekocyaya is a cat cafe on the fifth floor of the Bazaari Kokura building in Uomachi, Kokurakita Ward, about a minute on foot from Heiwadori Monorail Station and around ten minutes from JR Kokura Station. Its resident cats are mostly mixed breeds, and the cafe also fosters cats for the volunteer group Sakineko, so some of the cats in the room are looking for new homes. Adoption involves an interview, a trial period and conditions such as keeping the cat indoors. Since 2012 the cafe has also hand-raised kittens as a milk volunteer for the Kitakyushu Animal Welfare Center. Visits are charged by time, from 30 minutes up to two hours, with a drink included, and sets with cat-themed sweets such as paw-shaped cakes and brulee are available. Walk-ins are welcome. It is closed on Mondays, except public holidays.
