Launched with a grand opening on June 29, 2024, this café provides a spacious, interactive habitat where visitors can relax with adoptable rescue cats in a cozy, open setting built from a renovated portable shed, complete with cat towers, bridges, and an outdoor deck for fresh-air lounging. Spearheaded by shelter director Corey Speegle and supported by grants and donations—including a $5,000 individual gift and funding from local organizations—it aims to ease shelter overcrowding while giving cats a playful environment to meet potential adopters. Open Tuesday to Saturday with free entry, the café invites animal lovers to enjoy hot dogs, merchandise, and quality time with cats, fostering adoptions and community engagement in this northwest Alabama town.
