Cat Cafe Mikan
Cat Cafe Mikan is a cat cafe in Takehara that specialises in long-haired breeds, with Norwegian Forest Cats and Maine Coons as its residents. The building is split over two floors: the ground floor is the cat room, and the upstairs cafe serves drinks and freshly made crepes, so visitors spend their booked time with the cats and then move upstairs, or the other way round. Entry is by time, ordered at a touch panel, and treats can be bought for the cats. No reservations are taken. Preschool children are currently not admitted to the cat room, though they can use the upstairs cafe, and children under junior high school age need a guardian, who signs a consent form. There is parking for six cars. Reception closes at 5 PM, and the cafe is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Dog Run & Cafe Ann no Jikan
Higashihiroshima11 mi / 19 km
Ann no Jikan is a dog run and cafe in Goso, on the edge of Saijo in Higashihiroshima, run by Ann no Ie, a private shelter that has rescued dogs and cats for around a decade and houses dozens of animals waiting for adoption. The cafe opens on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from around midday into the afternoon. On those days visitors can have lunch, which must be reserved in advance, or cake and drinks, and spend time with the rescued cats in the cat room upstairs, while rescued dogs are outside. Many of the cats are up for adoption, so the line-up changes as they find homes, and the cafe doubles as a place to meet animals before adopting. Dog owners can use the dog run at weekends and on holidays, and members can use it at any time.

Onomichi, Hiroshima17 mi / 28 km
Neko Kissa Utrecht is a small cat cafe on Onomichi's Cat Alley (Neko no Hosomichi) in Higashi-Tsuchido-cho, about a minute's walk from the lower station of the Senkoji-yama Ropeway. The ground floor is a shop and gallery selling cat-themed goods and paintings, and the cat lounge is upstairs, with windows looking out over the ropeway. Around six cats live there, all rescued as kittens and very used to people; they readily sit on laps and play with toys. Entry to the upstairs cat room is charged as a 30-minute or 60-minute course, and drinks are available. It is a convenient stop for visitors who walk the Cat Alley hoping to see Onomichi's street cats and want a guaranteed meeting. The cafe is open in the afternoons and closes an hour earlier on Wednesdays.

Shah Neko House is a rescue cat cafe in an old-style house in Minari, Minogo-cho, Onomichi, about 3 km north of Shin-Onomichi Station along Route 184, with free parking for about six cars. Opened in March 2026 by the NPO Pet Manner Onomichi, it is home to shy rescue cats that tend to hiss at adoption events. Cats can be adopted after a trial period. The cafe opens on Fridays, weekends and public holidays, with last entry at 5 PM, and cat yoga classes are held on Monday evenings by reservation.

Kissaten &.
Imabari, Ehime20 mi / 31 km
Kissaten &. is a coffee shop in Miyashitacho, Imabari, about 12 minutes on foot from JR Imabari Station, with parking. Known for its house-roasted coffee, home-baked bread, morning sets and lunches, it added a cat room in 2025, the first cat cafe in Imabari. The cat room is fully separated from the dining area by glass and walls, so people with allergies or who prefer not to be around cats can use the cafe as usual. About five cats live there, all rescues or cats taken in from local adoption events, and profile sheets on the wall describe each one. Cat room time is free with a food or drink order and charged in 15-minute blocks otherwise. The cat room closes earlier than the cafe, and evening opening has been added; days off are irregular and announced on Instagram.
