Lifeline of Galveston County Cat Cafe
Webster, Texas
The Lifeline of Galveston County Cat Cafe is inside the nonprofit's Pet Adoption Center on NASA Parkway in Webster, Texas, near Clear Lake. Its cat room is home to adoptable cats rescued from Galveston County streets and municipal shelters, and visitors can walk in without an appointment to relax and play with them. Entry is free, and donations are welcome. Snacks and drinks are sold on site; the snacks are donated by sponsor UOffice Executive Suites, so all proceeds support Lifeline's rescue work. Cats go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Lifeline also offers pet sleepovers, where a cat or dog spends a night or two at a visitor's home, as well as one-week trial adoptions, and the center has adoptable dogs too.

Critical Whiskers
Lubbock, Texas
Critical Whiskers is a hobby boutique and cat lounge on 50th Street in Lubbock, Texas. The lounge is set up like a home and serves as a foster space for cats from South Plains SPCA, which handles all adoptions, so every cat there is looking for a family. Hour-long lounge visits include a drink from the fridge or coffee bar, and reservations are recommended, with walk-ins welcome when space allows. Visitors must be at least eight years old, and each child needs an accompanying adult with their own paid entry. There is no full-service cafe, but prepackaged snacks and drinks are sold. The boutique stocks board games, role-playing games, books, hobby kits and cat-themed gifts, and a second lounge with a board game library looks into the cat room through viewing windows.
