Snick's Cat Cafe
Wichita, Kansas
Snick's Cat Cafe is a coffee shop, boutique and cat lounge on East 21st Street North in northeast Wichita, near Rock Road. Opened in late 2024 as Wichita's first cat cafe, it serves espresso drinks, teas and pastries, and its boutique sells cat-themed gifts, local art and vintage and upcycled cat fashion. The coffee shop and boutique are free to visit, while the cat lounge is entered for a paid session of 50 minutes, booked online in advance or taken as a walk-in when space allows. Around 12 to 15 cats live in the lounge, and the adoptable ones come from a local rescue partner; several hundred cats have been adopted through the cafe. Children aged 6 and under are not admitted to the lounge, children 7 to 13 must stay with an adult, and teenagers need an adult's signature on the waiver. Private lounge events can be arranged.

Cat's Cradle Coffee & Cats
Harrisonburg, Virginia
Coffee & Cats is the cat cafe run by Cat's Cradle, a nonprofit cat rescue, inside its center on South Main Street in downtown Harrisonburg, and was the city's first cat cafe when it opened in 2020. Instead of one large lounge it has two small private kitty rooms, each decorated for photos, where a group of up to three people spends a 30-minute session with a few of the rescue's friendliest foster cats and kittens. The cats come from Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center and the Page County shelter, and all can be adopted through Cat's Cradle. Each session includes a complimentary cup of coffee, and the fee counts as a donation to the rescue's spay and neuter program. Reservations are encouraged because walk-ins are limited. Children must be at least 7, and everyone signs a risk agreement, with an adult signing for anyone under 18.

The Caffeinated Cat Cafe
Grover Beach, California
The Caffeinated Cat Cafe is a cat cafe on West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach and the only cat cafe in San Luis Obispo County. Opened in December 2024, it has a cafe area with a self-serve specialty coffee machine, tea, cold drinks, local pastries and a gift shop, plus two lounges, one for adult cats and one for kittens, and an outdoor catio. Visitors can watch the cats through large windows from the cafe or book a timed session inside the lounges. Sessions run 50 minutes or two hours, with all-day passes and short walk-in visits when space allows. Guests must be 6 or older, with special shorter sessions for children aged 4 and 5. The cats and kittens come from local rescues and are all adoptable, and the cafe has helped more than 450 of them find homes. Events include painting and bingo with the cats.

Ziggy's Cat Lounge
Bremerton, Washington
Ziggy's Cat Lounge is a cat cafe on Wheaton Way in East Bremerton, the first cat cafe in Kitsap County. Opened in August 2023 by Shane and Shannon Gabel, it serves espresso drinks, Italian sodas, Lotus energy drinks, tea, beer and seltzers, with donuts and cake pops. A dedicated cat room holds adoptable cats and kittens from local rescues, mainly Oakbrook Cat Rescue, alongside a few resident cats, and the lounge acts as a large foster home where the cats are socialized before adoption. Visitors can watch through indoor windows without booking, while time in the cat room is a paid 45-minute session starting on the hour; reservations are strongly recommended and walk-in space is very limited. Children under five are not allowed in the cat room, and under-13s need an adult. Adoptions go through the rescue, and young kittens are placed in pairs or with another cat.

The Toebean Cat Café
Roanoke, Virginia
The Toebean Cat Café is a coffee shop and cat lounge on Walnut Avenue SW in Roanoke, owned by a veterinary professional. Cats come from local shelters and rescues such as Franklin County Animal Shelter and Star City Cat Rescue, and more than 225 have been adopted. Usually 15 or more cats live across three rooms: the Nook, a small ground-floor room with two or three cats for quiet one-on-one time, and two upstairs rooms, the Sunbeam Suite with a sunroom and the newer Biscuit Factory. Admission is charged by the half hour or hour, with lower rates for children, and paid at the cafe; reservations are recommended and walk-ins come in as space allows. Guests check in, order a drink, sign a waiver, sanitize their hands and remove shoes or wear booties. The cafe serves coffee from Red Rooster Coffee in Floyd and baked treats.

Christie's Cat Cafe
West Branch, Michigan
Christie's Cat Cafe, also known as Christie's Kitty Cafe, is a volunteer-run cat lounge at the home of Claws and Paws Rescue on South Valley Street in West Branch, down the road from Irons Park. The rescue bought the building in 2023 and named the cafe after co-founder Mary Koliba's daughter, Christie Johnson, who loved rescuing cats and a good cup of coffee. The lounge serves as a foster home for up to seven cats and kittens waiting for adoption through Claws and Paws, a nonprofit no-kill rescue that has rehomed more than 1,200 dogs and cats since 2012. Coffee is offered at a donation-based counter, and visitors may bring their own food and drinks, a laptop or a book and settle in with the cats. Adoption applications are handled by the rescue.

Mugs 'N Mittens Cat Cafe
Fairmont, West Virginia
Mugs 'N Mittens is a cat cafe on Fairmont Avenue in Fairmont, opened in 2023 by Marion County residents Morgan and Keith. Visitors enter through the cafe side, where they can order a drink and pay for entry to the separate cat lounge. The lounge is home to eight permanent resident cats along with adoptable foster cats, placed with help from the Marion County Humane Society and other local partners. No appointment is needed and there is no minimum age. The menu includes boba and fruit teas, hot and iced coffee, coffee floats, chai and matcha lattes, milkshakes and smoothies, and each resident cat has its own signature drink. Cat treats are sold for guests to share. A gift shop stocks jewelry, art prints, freeze-dried sweets and other cat-themed goods made by local makers, and the cafe holds game nights, kitten sessions, birthday parties and other events.

Cups & Cats Cafe
Charleston, West Virginia
Cups & Cats Cafe is a cat cafe on Summers Street in downtown Charleston, a few blocks from the Kanawha River. Founded by local cat lover Lora Reynolds, it combines a coffee shop serving lattes, cappuccinos, chai, hot chocolate and other specialty drinks with a separate cat lounge where adoptable cats roam free. The cafe acts as a foster home for cats from local rescue partners, including the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Society, and more than 100 cats have been adopted through it. Visitors pay a fee to spend time in the lounge, which can be booked online, or can stay on the cafe side and watch the cats through the glass. A few resident cats, such as Mr. Thumbs, also live at the cafe. The fee helps cover the cats' care while they wait for adoption.

RubyCats
Toledo, Ohio
RubyCats is a volunteer-run nonprofit cat cafe on Adams Street in downtown Toledo, and the city's first cat cafe. The nonprofit, founded in 2022 and named after the girl whose idea it was, opened the cafe in January 2025. Adoptable cats live in the lounge, and visits are booked in 50-minute slots each hour for up to 10 guests, with a 10-minute break every hour so the cats can rest. Each reservation covers one person. Children as young as 6 may visit with a parent or guardian, with one adult for every two children under 14, and teenagers 14 to 17 can come alone with parental consent. Snacks and drinks come through a partnership with the nearby Grindhrs coffee shop. A membership club includes monthly visits, and evening events include bingo and card-game nights with the cats.

Sugar Kittens Lee's Summit
Lees Summit, Missouri
Sugar Kittens Lee's Summit is the second branch of the Sugar Kittens kitten cafe, opened in June 2024 on Southwest Blue Parkway in Lee's Summit, a southeastern suburb of Kansas City. Like the original in Liberty, it fills a lounge with dozens of kittens and some adult cats, with new arrivals each week. Visitors book a 50-minute session online, and anyone under 16 must come with an adult. Most of the cats are available for adoption: applications are filled out during a visit and usually finalized within two days, adoptions are limited to residents of the Kansas City metro, and all cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, tested and vaccinated before going home. Many guests come just for the kittens. The counter sells hard-to-find sodas, Fat & Weird Cookies, candy and cat-themed merchandise, and birthday parties and private bookings are offered.

Catzen Coffee
Saint Paul, Minnesota
Catzen Coffee is a specialty coffee shop with a cat lounge on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul's Macalester-Groveland neighborhood, a few blocks east of Macalester College. It opened on January 1, 2025. The coffee shop and patio are open to everyone, while the cat lounge is a living room with upholstered chairs, books, games and a fireplace where the cafe's own resident cats roam, nap and play. The cats live at the cafe permanently and are not up for adoption; they include a large Maine Coon rescue and a Lykoi, and they can retreat to their quarters downstairs whenever they like. Lounge visits last 45 minutes and must be reserved, with each person making a purchase in the coffee shop instead of paying an entry fee. The lounge is for ages 10 and up, with an all-ages cartoons session on weekend mornings. Regular evening events include needlecraft and TV nights.
Tail Town Cats
Pasadena, California
Tail Town Cats is a nonprofit cat lounge and adoption space on East Washington Boulevard in Pasadena's East Washington Village, next door to Sarkis Pastry. Founded by Carol Warren in 2021, it works with Kitten Rescue Los Angeles and keeps 30 to 40 adoptable cats in its lounge, many of them under two years old. Visitors book a one-hour pass, open to ages 6 and up, with one adult required for every two children under 12; the last entry is an hour before closing. A monthly membership allows repeat visits. There is no cafe on site, but drinks and pastries from next door can be brought in. Kitten Rescue also holds lobby adoption hours on weekend afternoons, and more than 500 cats have been adopted since opening. Evening events include watercolor and art classes, journaling, movement classes, cat art shows, bingo and beginner mahjong nights.
