Comfort & Joy Cat Cafe is a cat cafe on South Nevada Avenue at the south end of downtown Colorado Springs, opened in September 2024. It fosters about eight adoptable cats at a time from Teller County Regional Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, and works on socializing them and on litter-box and scratching-post habits before they go to new homes; cats are adopted on a first-come basis. Visits to the cat lounge are booked as 50-minute sessions, and shorter half-hour sessions are sold to walk-ins when there is space. The cafe is often sold out, so booking online, signing the waiver and paying in advance is recommended. Visitors must be at least 7 years old. Coffee, tea and other drinks are served, with free wifi and parking behind the building. Regular events include monthly trivia nights and tarot readings combined with lounge time.

Whiskers Workspace
St Petersburg, Florida
Whiskers Workspace is a coworking and meeting space with adoptable cats on Central Avenue in west St. Petersburg, on the second floor of 4699 Central Ave. Its main cat room, Whiskers Oasis, works as a cat lounge: visitors pay by the hour to relax, read or do light work with the resident cats, and walk-ins are accepted when space allows, although booking an hour or two ahead is recommended. All the cats come from CJPaws, a foster-based St. Petersburg cat rescue, and can be adopted. The building also has a coworking room that includes an hour in the cat lounge, two small private rooms shared with calm cats, and cat-free rooms for focused work and meetings on the ground floor. Weekly kitty yoga with a sound bath runs on Fridays, and during yoga classes lounge guests use another room with cats. The space opened in 2024.

A Sanctuary Cafe
Boston, Massachusetts
A Sanctuary Cafe is a cafe, micro-bookstore and cat lounge on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, a short walk from Charles/MGH station on the Red Line. Opened in 2024 as Boston's only cat cafe, it is home to about a dozen resident rescue cats that live there permanently and are not for adoption. The cafe and bookstore are open to everyone and serve locally sourced coffee, tea, espresso drinks and pastries, with seats overlooking the cats. Time in the cat lounge, which spans two levels including a quieter area, is by reservation only in one-hour slots, and the fee includes a credit to spend in the cafe; weekend rates are higher. Children under 8 are not allowed in the lounge, and visitors aged 8 to 14 must be supervised. Guests may bring cafe food and drink into the lounge but must not feed, pick up or wake the cats.

Tortitude Cat Café
Paducah, Kentucky
Tortitude Cat Café is a cat cafe on New Holt Road on the west side of Paducah, and the only cat cafe in Western Kentucky. It opened in September 2024. The cafe acts as a foster home for 15 to 20 vetted cats and kittens from its rescue partners Catt's Cats, All About The Cats, Jackson Purchase Forgotten Felines and Huntingdon TNR, and the cats roam freely in the lounge. Guests buy drinks and packaged snacks in the front shop, which also sells gifts, and can take snacks into the lounge. The number of guests in the lounge is limited, so reservations are encouraged and walk-ins cannot always be fitted in. Everyone signs a waiver. All the cats can be adopted, and kittens go home only once they are at least 14 weeks old, spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated. The cafe welcomes donations of toys, food and litter.

Coffee and the Cats
Rapid City, South Dakota
Coffee and the Cats is a family-run cafe on East Saint Patrick Street in Rapid City that opened in April 2024. It serves specialty coffee, tea, mocktails, soups, sandwiches and desserts, and has a separate cat room, the Kitty Cove, where visitors can book 30 minute sessions to snuggle and play with adoptable cats from the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Anyone is welcome to visit the cats, whether or not they plan to adopt, and adoptions go through the humane society. The business has grown into a wider venue with the Emporium, selling antique books, gifts, comics and handmade goods, and a Mini Mewseum with exhibits on the history and science of cats. It hosts frequent events, including art nights, murder mystery dinners, dinner theater, silent film screenings and a chili cook-off.

The Cat's Brew
Sun Prairie, Wisconsin
The Cat's Brew is a coffee shop and cat lounge on Montana Avenue in Sun Prairie, northeast of Madison, and the only cat cafe in Dane County. It was opened in September 2024 by Heather and Liz, two veterinary technicians, and its adoptable cats come from Little Orphans Animal Rescue, which handles applications online. The cafe side serves coffee, smoothies, scones and other snacks and needs no reservation. Time with the cats is optional and takes place in a separate lounge for an hourly fee; reservations are strongly recommended, especially at weekends, and every person in the party, including children, needs a spot. Walk-ins are admitted as space allows. Children 12 and under must be with an adult, and the youngest children are asked to watch the cats through the cafe windows. The lounge opens later and closes earlier than the cafe each day.

The Smitten Kitten NWA
Fayetteville, Arkansas
The Smitten Kitten NWA is a nonprofit cat cafe on West Sycamore Street in north Fayetteville, a short drive from the University of Arkansas, and calls itself a cat cafe for the underdogs. Its cats are adoptable felines from local rescues and shelters that are often overlooked, such as shy cats, seniors and cats with quirks or special needs. Unlike most cat cafes, one entry fee covers unlimited time during opening hours and includes free coffee and tea; sodas and water are sold, and outside food and drink are welcome. Visitors must be at least 6 years old. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. All cats are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested, and adoption applications are reviewed by each cat's original shelter or rescue. The cafe grew out of the former Purr Catfe in Fayetteville and also holds occasional events such as holiday craft days.

The Kitty Crib
Champaign, Illinois
The Kitty Crib is a nonprofit, volunteer-run cat lounge on North Market Street in north Champaign, near Interstate 57 and a short drive from Parkland College and the University of Illinois. Run by Moore's Rescue Ranch since 2024, it is a home-like space with soft lighting and music where visitors relax, study or play with adoptable cats and kittens, many taken from overcrowded animal control facilities. Admission includes self-serve coffee and hot cocoa, and the lounge is designed to be sensory friendly for children and adults with special needs. Opening hours are limited and staffed by volunteers, so calling or booking ahead is recommended. Cats can be adopted through Moore's Rescue Ranch, and admission fees help fund the rescue's care of the cats.

The Cat House
Roselle, Illinois
The Cat House is a cat lounge and boutique on Irving Park Road in downtown Roselle, a DuPage County suburb northwest of Chicago, between Fire Burrito and Dini's Ice Cream and close to the Roselle Metra station. Usually 10 to 25 adoptable cats live in the lounge, fostered there for partner rescues including Forever Fortunate Felines, St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines and Love at First Meow Cat Rescue, which receive the full adoption fees. Visits are 45-minute sessions with a self-serve hot coffee, tea and cocoa station, and packaged drinks and snacks can be bought. Reservations are recommended, and toddlers enter free. The lounge is shoes off and socks only, there must be one adult for every two children, and teens 15 and over may visit alone with a signed waiver. A boutique sells cat stickers, stationery and gifts from small makers, and the lounge can be rented for private events.

Perk and Paws Cat Cafe
Torrington, Connecticut
Perk and Paws Cat Cafe is a family-run cat cafe on Franklin Street in downtown Torrington, the first retail tenant of the Pennrose Riverfront Torrington mixed-use building. The cafe serves coffee from Great Minds Coffee Roasters, Harney & Sons teas and baked goods. Visitors book 50-minute sessions in the separate cat lounge, arriving a little early to check in on the cafe side and sign a waiver, and they wash their hands before and after the visit. All of the cats come from a local rescue partner and are adoptable, and an application can be filled out during the visit. The cafe is open Thursday to Sunday.

Purrfect Day Cat Café Covington
Covington, Kentucky
Purrfect Day Cat Café in Covington is Northern Kentucky's first cat cafe, opened in the fall of 2020 as the second branch of Louisville's Purrfect Day. It sits in the 8th Street Commons, next to Libby's and behind Braxton Brewery, a short drive across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati. Anyone can drop in at the bar, which serves coffee, tea, wine, beer and spirits, while time with the cats is booked online in timed sessions; reservations are strongly advised at weekends, on holidays and in summer. The cats come from Paws Rescue in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the League for Animal Welfare in Batavia and Cincinnati Animal CARE, and all are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoptions are usually approved on site, and the cafe has placed more than 7,000 cats. Events include craft nights with kittens, cat yoga and private parties.

Central Purrk Cat Cafe
Georgetown, Kentucky
Central Purrk Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge at the Georgetown outlet center, next door to Peddler's Mall, about 20 minutes north of Lexington. Founders Jennifer and Ryan Hoskins opened it in January 2021 as central Kentucky's first cat cafe. The lounge works as a foster home for up to 10 adoptable adult cats from the Scott County Humane Society, and it passed 500 adoptions within two years. The cafe serves coffee from City Roastery, boba, dirty sodas, macarons and baked goods, and anyone can visit it or watch the cats through the lounge windows without a booking. Lounge time is charged per person by the hour or half hour, and reservations are highly recommended though walk-ins are taken when there is space. Children under 6 can visit during dedicated Kiddie Kat Hours. Monthly memberships are offered, and events include yoga with cats and trivia nights.
