Entangled Cat Cafe
Watkinsville, Georgia
Entangled Cat Cafe is a cat cafe, coffee shop and gift market on Court Street in downtown Watkinsville, about 15 minutes south of Athens. The front cafe serves lattes and other coffee drinks, including a monthly special, with sweet treats, and its windows look into the cat lounge, so anyone can stop in for a drink and watch the cats. The lounge, which includes a kitten room, is booked by the hour for a fee and holds a sizeable group of adoptable cats from Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, a volunteer-supported partner; more than 300 cats have been adopted through the cafe. Reservations are recommended, especially at weekends, and every visitor signs an online waiver. The market sells cat toys, beds, candles and gifts made by local artists and craftspeople, and the cafe runs a monthly book club and seasonal events. It is closed on Thursdays.

American Museum of the House Cat
Sylva, North Carolina
The American Museum of the House Cat is a museum of cat art and artifacts on US Highway 441 South near Sylva, in the mountains of western North Carolina, about an hour from Asheville. It was created by Dr. Harold Sims, who collected for more than 30 years and also founded the Catman2 Shelter, a cage-free, no-kill cat shelter in Cullowhee; he died in 2024. Exhibits run from fine and folk art, carousel cats, art glass and vintage advertising to an Egyptian cat mummy and a petrified cat found in a medieval English chimney. A small group of resident museum cats lives in the building and greets visitors during their tour. Admission is charged, with reduced prices for children, teens and students and free entry for children 5 and under, and curated tours can be booked. Proceeds support the Catman2 Shelter, and there is a gift shop.
The Purrfect Pour Cat Cafe
Lincolnton, North Carolina
The Purrfect Pour Cat Cafe is Lincolnton's first cat cafe, on Vandiver Drive next to Miracle-Ear, and opened in April 2024. Half of the space is a coffee shop serving coffee, wine, craft beer and baked goods, where guests can also work on a laptop, and the other half is a cat lounge with about twelve adoptable cats from the rescue partner Angels to Animals. Lounge visits are one hour, priced per person with a higher weekend rate, and reservations are recommended; a few walk-in places are kept each hour, sometimes for shorter visits. Children must be at least 7 during regular hours, and younger children can come to Kitty Time sessions on Wednesday and Saturday mornings or with a private room booking. The lounge holds up to 12 guests at a time. About 700 cats have been adopted from the cafe.

Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary
Green Bay, Wisconsin
Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary is a no-kill, cage-free cat sanctuary and adoption center in Green Bay that rescues and rehabilitates cats with special needs and disabilities, including FIV and FeLV positive, blind, paralyzed and three-legged cats, and occasionally dogs. Visitors can spend time with the free-roaming cats during open hours and browse Haven Books, its used bookstore. Visiting was free at its long-time home on North Broadway, which was flooded in summer 2026; the sanctuary now operates temporarily from a church on Wilson Avenue with fewer cats, a main room for eight visitors and a feral cat room for three, half-hour time slots when busy and a small entry fee. Adoptions are arranged directly with the sanctuary, which is also the rescue partner of The Pawffee Shop Cat Cafe in Appleton.

Mad Cats and More
Coventry, Rhode Island
Mad Cats and More is a family-run cat lounge and shop on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry, next to Borrelli's Bakery. Opened in April 2024, it combines a boutique selling handmade shirts, leashes, collars, keychains and cat toys with a separate lounge where visitors spend time with the cats. Two resident Maine Coons, Zeus and Athena, live there alongside adoptable cats and kittens from the rescue Angels Caring for Animals, which handles applications, vet care and spay or neuter, so the cats change as they find homes. Visits are walk-in and charged by the half hour or hour, with lower rates for visitors aged 17 and under. Bottled drinks and snacks are sold, but there is no cafe. Staff know each cat's history and can explain adoption. The lounge opens daily, from midday on weekdays and from the morning at weekends; occasional closures are posted on Facebook.

Pawsific NorthWest Cat Cafe
Olympia, Washington
Pawsific NorthWest Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat room on Pacific Avenue SE in east Olympia, the first cat cafe in Thurston County. It opened in 2024 and serves Olympia Coffee Roasters coffee, other drinks and light bites, and sells cat-themed goods by local artists and crafters. The dining room is open to everyone without a reservation and looks into the cat room through large windows. Entry to the cat room costs a fee and visits last 50 minutes, starting on the hour; booking ahead is recommended because walk-in space is limited. Children must be six or older, and under-13s need an adult. The adoptable cats and kittens come from several foster-based nonprofit rescues, with new arrivals each Wednesday, alongside a few resident cats. Adoptions are arranged with the rescue that owns each cat. The cafe also hosts cat yoga, sip and paint, and reading with cats.

Get A Gato
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Get A Gato is a nonprofit cat cafe on Christian Street near 6th Street in Bella Vista, South Philadelphia. The front of the building is a full-service cafe and gift shop with Colombian-inspired coffee, drinks and snacks such as empanadas and churros, open to anyone without a ticket. Behind it is a ticketed cat lounge where visitors spend 50-minute sessions with rescued Philadelphia street cats, and the cats can also be seen through an observation window. The cats come from the partner rescues House of the Cat and The Cat Collaborative, and all are available for adoption, though same-day adoptions are not offered. More than 600 cats have been adopted since the lounge opened in April 2024. Reservations are strongly recommended and walk-ins depend on space. Midweek sessions are discounted, and the cafe also offers memberships, volunteer shifts, short-term fostering and events. Contact is by email.

Kitty City Cat Museum

Kitty City Cat Museum, formerly Kitty City Cat Cafe, is a small cat lounge inside the Blue Ridge Indie Market on Salem Avenue SW in Roanoke. It keeps the group of cats small, usually about eight to twelve, in a space decorated with cat-themed art made by visitors, and some of the cats are available for adoption, with the number changing from week to week. There is no entry fee and generally no time limit; the lounge relies on donations and on sales from its boutique of local goods. Coffee and tea are free at a self-service station, and art supplies are provided for anyone who wants to add a drawing to the collection. All ages are welcome as long as parents watch their children closely. Reservations are not required but can be made to guarantee an entry time.

The cafe and the cat lounge are separate: the cafe serves coffee, wine, craft beer, smoothies and baked goods, and the lounge holds about twelve adoptable cats from Princeton's Meow, the cage-free cat adoption facility of the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County. Lounge visits are one hour when reserved online, with a weekend rate, and shorter 30-minute visits are offered to walk-ins when there is room. Mac Tabby Cat Cafe Concord

Mac Tabby Cat Cafe Concord is the second branch of the Mac Tabby group, on Market Street in historic downtown Concord, a short walk from the city parking decks and less than five miles from Interstate 85. It occupies an 1886 building with exposed brick and wooden beams, a bar made from old pine and a covered front porch. The cafe serves coffee, smoothies, pastries, beer and wine and is open to anyone, while the separate cat lounge holds adoptable cats from Princeton's Meow, a Concord rescue. Lounge visits are paid per person, either as one-hour reserved sessions or shorter walk-in visits when space allows. Guests must be 7 or older during regular hours, with Saturday morning sessions and whole-room bookings for younger children. Unlike the NoDa branch, the Concord cafe is on ground level and fully wheelchair accessible. It opened in May 2021.

Purrfect Pair Cat Cafe is a cat lounge, coffee shop and cat boutique in Rock Hill, South Carolina, about 25 minutes south of Uptown Charlotte off I-77 exit 82B. It sits in the building behind Golden Corral, with entrances from Cherry Road and North Anderson Road and free parking. The lounge is a living-room style space where adoptable cats from the Lancaster SPCA mix with a few permanent resident cats.
