Mr. Kitty's Cat Café & Boutique

Mr. Kitty's Cat Café & Boutique is a cafe, cat lounge and cat-themed gift shop in a converted historic church on South Farwell Street in downtown Eau Claire. Opened in March 2024 as the city's first cat cafe, it works exclusively with the Eau Claire County Humane Association, which supplies its 10 to 15 cats and handles adoptions; the cafe passed its 500th adoption in August 2026. The lounge is separate from the cafe, so guests can watch the cats through the glass with a coffee, tea or snack, or pay to go in. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations can be made online. Visitors to the lounge must be at least 7 years old and sign a waiver, while the cafe and boutique have no age limit. The cafe has free Wi-Fi and board games.

Meow Maison

Meow Maison, also written Mèo Maison, is a French chateau-themed cat cafe and adoption lounge on Wisconsin Avenue NW in Georgetown, Washington DC. Opened in November 2023, it is home to about 15 to 25 rescued cats and kittens from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, which handles all adoptions. More than 550 cats have been adopted from the lounge. The cats arrive spayed or neutered, vaccinated and health-checked. Visits are booked as timed tickets, with weekday and weekend prices and short 15-minute slots on weekdays, and walk-ins are welcome when there is space. All visitors sign a waiver, minors need an adult to sign for them, and groups larger than six book a private event. Coffee, tea and lattes are served, and the lounge offers weekday coworking passes and monthly memberships. Events include cat yoga, mug painting and plush-making workshops. Free two-hour street parking and paid garages are nearby.

The Cats' Pyjamas Cat Café
Springfield, Illinois
The Cats' Pyjamas is a cat cafe in a house on East Capitol Avenue in downtown Springfield, a few blocks east of the Illinois State Capitol. Adoptable cats from the Animal Protective League roam several rooms of the home-like space, so visitors and cats can spread out, and staff introduce each cat. Visits are charged by the half hour or hour and are best booked in advance; walk-ins are taken when space allows, mainly at weekends. Locally brewed coffee and treats from community partners are available, everyone reviews the waiver and house rules before entering, and the cafe sells merchandise. Adoptions are arranged through the Animal Protective League. The space can be rented for events, and the cafe hosts occasional evenings such as live music with the cats.

Santa Fe Cat Cafe
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Santa Fe Cat Cafe, formerly the Turquoise Teapot and Cat Cafe, is a coffee shop and cat lounge in the Baca Railyard district south of downtown Santa Fe. It opened in February 2024 as the city's first cat cafe and has been run by Ashley and Conor Maguire since August 2025. The cafe side, open to walk-ins with no reservation, serves espresso and tea made with Heart Coffee Roasters and local OddBox beans and has free wifi. Next to it, the cat lounge is visited in 50-minute sessions that start on the hour and are paid per person, with a reservation recommended for every guest. All the cats are adoptable and come from New Mexico rescues Felines & Friends, 9 Lives Rescue and Española Humane; more than 230 cats have been adopted since 2024. Children are welcome in the lounge with an adult. It also hosts events and birthday parties.

Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge
Springfield, Oregon
Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge is a cat lounge and boutique on West Centennial Boulevard in Springfield, opened in January 2024 by retired physician Michelle Wyatt as the first cat café in the Eugene-Springfield area. The front shop sells cat-themed gifts, art by local artists and cat supplies, along with coffee, tea, soft drinks and packaged snacks that can be taken into the lounge, and entry to the shop is free. The cage-free lounge houses adoptable cats in foster care with Twitchy Tails Rescue, and more than 280 cats have been adopted since opening. Visits are booked as 30- or 60-minute sessions for up to ten people, with cheaper sessions on Thursday afternoons, memberships and punch cards; walk-ins are taken until the room is full. Children must be at least 8 and accompanied by a parent, and socks are required. Regular events include Paint with Cats and Cat Bingo nights.

Purradise Springs Cat Sanctuary
Fort White, Florida
Purradise Springs is a free-roaming cat sanctuary and private retreat on a nine-acre rural property in Fort White, a few minutes from Ichetucknee Springs State Park in Columbia County. It is run by Denise and Thom Howard through their nonprofit Purrapy Inc. and is home to more than 150 cats, mostly abused, abandoned and legacy adult cats, with no kittens or unneutered cats. The sanctuary funds itself by renting out four air-conditioned glamping tents on Airbnb, so guests can stay overnight among the cats, and some visitors use a stay to bond with a cat before adopting. It is a private property rather than a drop-in venue, and visits have to be arranged in advance or booked as a stay. The owners warn that a working sanctuary has smells and mess, so it suits committed cat lovers.

Cassie's Cats
Ventura, California
Cassie's Cats is a volunteer-run nonprofit cat lounge and adoption center on East Main Street in midtown Ventura. Opened in June 2021, it houses around a dozen rescued cats and older kittens that come from local shelters and rescue partners, and has placed more than 250 in homes. It is not a cafe and does not serve food or coffee: visitors pay a donation-based fee to spend 30, 45 or 60 minutes in the lounge, and cold drinks can be added when booking. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Children aged 4 and up are welcome if they can stay quiet around the cats, with one adult for every two children. Adoption involves meeting the cats, an application and sometimes a home check, with no same-day adoptions. A gift shop sells cat-themed goods, and the lounge closes for an hour at midday.

Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary
Faribault, Minnesota
Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary is a nonprofit, cage-free sanctuary for feral and unsocialized cats in the countryside outside Faribault, about an hour south of the Twin Cities. Hundreds of cats rescued from outdoor colonies, many with no previous human contact, live in its farm building, where they are fully vetted and cared for by staff and volunteers. Visitors are welcome every afternoon, including weekends and holidays, to walk among the cats, offer treats and help socialize them; please do not arrive before opening time. Cats that come to trust people are offered for adoption to adults 21 and over, and those that never do stay for life. The sanctuary does not accept owner surrenders or kittens, runs a spay and neuter program for feral colonies, and is funded by donations and its online shop.

TropiCats
Lihue, Hawaii
TropiCats is the first cat cafe on Kaua'i, on the lower level of Harbor Mall on Rice Street in Nawiliwili, Lihue. Opened in September 2023, it houses adoptable cats from the Kauai Community Cat Project, usually around ten to a dozen, in a play room that holds all the cats and up to ten visitors at a time. No appointment is needed: visitors walk in and pay per person for 30 minutes or an hour, young children enter free, and socks are worn in the cat room. The in-house cafe serves coffee drinks from Kauai Coffee and pastries from Kauai Bakery, and there is free wifi and a shop with cat-themed gifts. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and adoptions are donation based, including for visitors from off island. Cat yoga, birthday parties and meetings can be booked.

River Kitty Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge on North University Street in Peoria, the city's first full-time cat cafe, opened in March 2024 in a former loan office. The cafe serves coffee, tea and treats, and a separate cat lounge holds adoptable cats from Peoria County Animal Protection Services, all vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped. Catty Corner

Catty Corner is a nonprofit cat rescue and cat lounge on 13th Avenue in downtown Altoona. It operates from the former Second Chance Strays Cat Rescue and Lounge, which took on the Catty Corner name in late 2025, and gives rescued cats a home-like space to live until they are adopted. Visitors can come in during the weekly open hours simply to spend time with the cats, or to meet one they might take home, and a modest visit fee helps cover food, litter and veterinary care. Around twenty cats and kittens are usually in residence, all spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested before adoption, with reduced fees for adopting two kittens together. Adoption applications are handled through the rescue's online form. The lounge is staffed by volunteers and has relaxed seating and plenty of climbing space for the cats.

Whiskers & Wine
San Diego, California
Whiskers & Wine is a cat cafe and bar on Adams Avenue at the northern edge of North Park, San Diego, opened in 2020. Unlike most cat cafes it has a full kitchen and bar, serving flatbreads, small plates, local craft beer, wine and cat-themed cocktails that guests can take into the lounge. The space is on two levels and includes a rooftop catio where the cats roam in the open air. More than 20 adoptable cats from North Park Cat Rescue live there, and adoptions are arranged through the rescue's application. Entry is charged per person, reservations are recommended for evenings and weekends, walk-ins are taken when there is room, and the lounge is for ages 12 and up. Cat yoga runs on most Saturday and Sunday mornings, there is a weekday happy hour, and the cafe hosts paint nights and other events. It is closed on Mondays.
