Opened in July 2023 as Lawrence's first cat cafe, it serves locally roasted coffee, tea and baked goods made in-house, with vegan options daily. The adoptable cats and kittens come from the Lawrence Humane Society and live in the Purrlor, a plexiglass-walled enclosure with its own ventilation, so the cafe itself is comfortable for people with allergies and the bar seating looks straight in. Purrlor visits are paid by the half hour or hour, with reservations encouraged on weekends and walk-ins welcome when slots are free; only seven guests are inside at a time, and each adult may bring up to two children. Adoptions can be completed on the spot, and the fees go to the humane society.

Lakeland, Florida

Kitty ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌​​​‌​‌‌‌​⁠Cat Lounge is a mid-century modern cat cafe on East Orange Street near downtown Lakeland, run by former newspaper photographer Cindy Skop. The front of the house is set up as a retro living and dining room where anyone can stay as long as they like with coffee from a local roaster, juices, teas, pastries, cheesecakes, bagels and savory items, all sourced from local businesses, plus board games, puzzles and books. The cats live in a separate room with its own ventilation, and time with them is charged per person for 30 minutes or an hour. Reservations are not required, and children three and under enter free. The cats are adoptable and come from Saving Paws Rescue of Florida. The lounge also has free community pantries, an art wall of local work for sale, and hosts book clubs, trivia, crafts and drag shows.

Plains, Pennsylvania

Purrfect ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​​​‌‌‌‌‌​​​⁠Mugs Cat Cafe is a coffee shop, gift shop and cat cafe on North River Street in Plains Township, just north of Wilkes-Barre. Opened in May 2021 by owner Vikki Kenyon, it acts as a foster home for homeless cats waiting for adoption, and usually has around 20 adoptable rescue cats living in its Cat Den. Visits to the Cat Den are 50-minute sessions for a per-person fee, limited to 12 guests at a time, so reservations on the website are strongly encouraged and a waiver should be signed before arrival; walk-ins are accepted when there is room. The coffee shop, serving locally roasted coffee, hot chocolate and sweet treats, and the gift shop of locally made, cat-themed items are separate from the cats and need no reservation. The cafe does not take in surrendered cats.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‌​​​​‌​​‌‌​⁠Cat Lounge of Kitty Queen Cat Rescue is an adoption center and cat lounge on McKnight Road in Ross Township, in Pittsburgh's North Hills. Kitty Queen, a no-kill nonprofit rescue, describes it as Pittsburgh's first cat lounge, and the current space replaced a smaller original lounge. Adoptable cats and kittens live together in an open, cage-free room with climbing structures, toys and soft resting spots, and visitors can come in simply to relax and play with them or to look for a cat to adopt. There is a small entry fee, walk-ins are welcome, and visits can also be reserved through the rescue's website. The lounge opens on weekday evenings except Monday and for longer hours at weekends, and it closes on major holidays. It also hosts fundraising events such as bingo nights.

Bend, Oregon

Playful ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​‌‌​​​​​​‌​‌​​​‌‌‌‌​​​‌​‌‌​​‌⁠Paws Cat Café is a cat lounge on Bend's west side, just off Century Drive and across from The Village Baker. Opened in August 2023, it focuses more on the cats than on food: the front room has a cooler of cold drinks, a few snacks and a shop of cat-themed merchandise, and anyone can watch the cats through the lounge windows. Behind them, around ten or more adoptable cats from Cascade Canine Rescue East and West (CCREW), a Tumalo-based nonprofit, live in a cage-free lounge. Visits are 50-minute sessions for up to eight guests, with a drink included; booking ahead is recommended and walk-ins are taken when space allows. Visitors must be at least 8, children under 12 need an adult, and socks are required. Adoptions are handled by CCREW. The café also hosts monthly events such as Cats on Mats yoga, craft sessions and private parties.

Puyallup, Washington

Catffeinated ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌​‌‌​​​​​‌​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌​‌⁠is a cat cafe on South Meridian in downtown Puyallup, the first cat cafe in Pierce County. The separate Cat Lounge holds adoptable cats from the cafe's shelter partner alongside a few resident cats, including two Sphynx. Booking ahead is recommended as space is limited, and all guests sign a waiver. Cats are adopted through the shelter, and staff explain the process during the visit. Opened in September 2023 as the first US branch of Japan's MOFF animal cafe company, it is home to about 20 resident pedigree cats brought over from Japan, including Scottish Folds, Ragdolls, a Himalayan, a Russian Blue, a Minuet and a Maine Coon, each with a Hawaiian name. The cats live at the cafe for life and are not sold or adopted out. Visitors sign a waiver and buy a 30- or 60-minute ticket that includes one drink, and can buy treats to feed the cats. Collar colors show how each cat likes to be handled, and staff explain the rules on entry. Walk-ins are welcome, and this is the only MOFF branch in Hawai'i that also takes advance bookings. Kama'aina and military visitors get a discount.

Syracuse, New York

Pawsitivitea ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌​‌​‌​​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌​​​‌​‌​​‌​​​​⁠CNY is a cafe and cat lounge on Park Street on Syracuse's north side, open since September 2020. The cafe serves locally sourced drinks and homemade baked goods, and the lounge is home to usually eight to twelve adoptable cats from partner rescues including Wayward Paws and the Oswego SPCA, which receive the adoption fees; the cafe has passed 570 adoptions. The cats are spayed or neutered and vaccinated before arriving. An entry fee covers their care, the lounge holds up to eight guests at a time, and reservations are strongly recommended, especially at weekends, though weekday walk-ins are often possible. Children aged 10 and up are allowed, with those 12 and under accompanied by an adult, and clean socks are required. A small library, cards and coloring books are available, and events include Paint-n-Play, yoga, game and movie nights and an annual silent auction.

The ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​‌​​​‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌​​‌​​​​‌​‌​​​​‌​‌⁠Cat's Meow Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge that was Bloomington-Normal's first cat cafe and has moved from Hershey Road in Bloomington to a larger space on Landmark Drive in Normal. The cafe serves espresso drinks, seasonal lattes, teas, lemonades, breakfast, soups and pastries, and visitors can take food and drinks into the lounge. The cat lounge is home to a large group of adoptable cats, often 30 or more, from the rescue Pet Central Helps, each with a card describing its personality. Entry to the lounge is charged by the hour, with a discount for visitors who buy something at the counter, and sessions can be booked online. Adoptions are arranged with Pet Central Helps, which has rehomed hundreds of cats through the cafe.

Joplin, Missouri

Nine ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌​​‌​‌‌​​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​‌‌‌​‌​‌​‌​​⁠Lives Cat Lounge & Adoption Center is a cat lounge and cafe at 2201 East 7th Street in Joplin, Missouri, and the city's first cat lounge. Owner Tiffany Buck opened it on March 1, 2021. Its adoptable cats come from the Joplin Humane Society after being vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped and tested. The cafe is separate from the lounge and serves coffee, tea, smoothies, slushes, soups and sandwiches, and drinks can be taken into the lounge, but food other than cat treats cannot. At opening, a 30-minute lounge visit cost $5, and monthly cat passes were also sold. It is temporarily closed.
