Rosie's Kitty Catfé

Rosie's Kitty Catfé is a donation-based cat café in Washington Township, in northern Macomb County, located on 26 Mile Road next to a 7-Eleven just before Stony Creek Metropark. It opened in 2022 as Macomb County's first cat café and has since moved to this location. Most of its free-roaming cats and kittens come from partner Meow and Furever Cat Rescue, and all are vetted, microchipped and spayed or neutered before adoption, which can be arranged in the café or online. Visits are by appointment on a limited schedule of evenings and selected weekend days, with walk-ins welcome when there is space, so checking the online calendar before going is advisable. Coffee, tea or hot cocoa is included with the donation at the door. Guests must be 9 or older, and anyone under 15 needs an adult. Yoga with cats and painting events are held regularly.

Malu Cat Cafe
Garden City, Michigan
Malu Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge on Ford Road in Garden City, in western Wayne County. The café serves specialty coffee, matcha and fruit drinks, and a quiet lounge at the back is home to the cafe's permanent resident cats along with adoptable kittens from Bottle Babies Rescue. Visits are hourly sessions for up to 15 people, booked online, with walk-ins taken when there is room; weekends usually need a reservation. Every visitor signs a waiver, wears the shoe covers provided and sanitizes their hands before and after touching the cats. The minimum age is 5, children up to 12 need constant adult supervision, and each adult may bring at most two children. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, and visitors are given treats to offer the cats. The cafe also holds kitten yoga sessions.

Fremont Cat Lounge
Fremont, Michigan
Fremont Cat Lounge is a family-friendly cat lounge in a storefront on East Main Street in downtown Fremont, in Newaygo County. It houses adoptable cats in partnership with local shelters and rescues, including the Newaygo County Animal Shelter and Heaven Can Wait, and its aim is to give the cats more chances to find homes while they learn that people are safe. Visitors pay admission in 15-minute increments for timed visits with the cats, and monthly memberships cover unlimited short visits with a treat for the cats and a free drink. A small retail area sells toys, treats and cat-themed gifts, and gift cards and punch cards are available. The lounge hosts events such as yoga with cats and offers birthday party packages, either fully hosted or do-it-yourself. Adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and a microchip.

Lazy Cat Lounge
Holland, Michigan
Lazy Cat Lounge is a small community-run cat lounge on Blair Lane, north of Holland, opened in July 2025. Its founder, Wendee, built it on Piper's Palace, a project she began in 2019 after losing her rescue cat Piper. The cat room is upstairs, with cat trees, toys, open space and a wall of profiles of the resident cats, all of which come from local rescue partners and are available for adoption. Downstairs, a consignment shop sells pet supplies and goods from local makers to support the lounge, and an online affiliate shop adds to its funding. Visitors pay a flat admission, with reduced rates for students, teachers, military members and seniors, and are not limited to a short timed session. Inexpensive drinks and snacks are available. The lounge keeps limited afternoon hours four days a week and hosts community events.

The Catz Den
Wayland, Michigan
The Catz Den is a nonprofit community space and small cat cafe on South Main Street in downtown Wayland, about 15 minutes south of Grand Rapids. It partners with The Country Cat Lady, a rescue that raises its rescued kittens to become emotional support and therapy animals, and the resident therapy cats spend time with visitors in the main room. A separate adoption room houses cats and kittens available through The Country Cat Lady and can be visited for a donation. Coffee and low-cost snacks are served during coffee and kitty hours on weekday mornings. The Den focuses on teens and families: during the school year it runs a VIP Teens after-school program, and it rents out the space for meetings and private events. Hours vary by day.

The Catvalier Lounge
Owosso, Michigan
The Catvalier Lounge is Shiawassee County's first cat lounge, in its own building next to Defying Gravity Bakery Café on North State Road, across from Meijer between Owosso and Corunna. Opened in August 2025 by bakery owner Michelle Holmes, it hosts a rotating group of five to seven adoptable cats chosen by the Shiawassee Humane Society, which handles all adoptions; visitors can scan a QR code for each cat to start an application. Visits are one-hour sessions at a flat per-person fee, with up to 12 guests at a time, and the whole room can be booked privately. Sessions are reserved online or by phone, and walk-ins are welcome when space allows. Guests check in at the bakery, where they can buy coffee, breakfast, lunch or pastries to take into the lounge. Events have included cat yoga and paint-your-pet nights.

Second Chance Cats Lounge & Adoption Center
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Second Chance Cats Lounge & Adoption Center is the public home of Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, a volunteer-run nonprofit cat rescue founded in 2021, on Knapp Street NE in Grand Rapids' Creston area. The rescue pulls at-risk cats from partner municipal shelters and rescues such as the Kent County Animal Shelter, focusing on cats that need extra time, medical care or patience to learn to trust people. The rescue is foster-based, and some of its adoptable cats are housed at the center. During weekend open hours, anyone can walk in to visit and pet the cats in the center's cat rooms; there is no set fee, but donations are requested. Visits outside open hours can be arranged by email. Adoptions follow a thorough application process. It does not take in strays or owner surrenders from the public.
