Yaong Caffe
Keelung
Yaong Caffe is a Korean-style cat cafe on the second floor of a building on Ren 3rd Road in Ren'ai District, Keelung, a short walk from the Miaokou night market. It shares its space with the owners' Korean fashion label, so you can browse clothes and accessories as well as relax with the cafe's ten resident cats, who roam freely around the room and are calm and friendly with visitors. Staff open the door for you and explain the house rules before you go in. The kitchen serves set meals, pasta (including a limited weekly special), fried snack platters, tiramisu, coffee and milk tea. Children under 10 are not admitted, and tables can be booked by phone. The cafe closes on some irregular days, which are announced on its Instagram.
貓町珈琲 Cattown Coffee Stand
Keelung
貓町珈琲 Cattown Coffee Stand is a small specialty coffee stand in a lane off Yi 2nd Road in Zhongzheng District, Keelung, about ten minutes' walk from the Miaokou night market. Open since 2013, it is a quiet, unpretentious place loved for its two resident cats: Tom, a laid-back, heavyset blue-and-white tuxedo cat found near the old Haimen fortress, and the shyer Xiaohua, who will settle on guests who sit still. The cats are territorial, so please give them space. Seating is limited and shared, dine-in visits last 90 minutes, outside food isn't allowed and you clear your own table. The menu covers espresso drinks, pour-overs with a choice of roast, the citrusy Sicilian coffee and vegetable quiche; food must be ordered with a drink, and only coffee is served on Sundays.
抵家咖啡
Keelung
抵家咖啡 is a neighborhood coffee house on Yisi Road in Xinyi District, Keelung, close to Keelung Hospital. Three well-kept resident cats, including a senior cat now in its teens, share the cafe with guests, and the shop presents itself as both a cat cafe and a specialty coffee roaster. The atmosphere is quiet and unhurried, a little away from the busy city center, and there is a separate private room for small groups. The food is made in house: light meals such as sandwiches and salads, a bittersweet Showa-style Japanese pudding that is the signature dessert, tiramisu and other cakes, along with specialty coffee and black tea. House-roasted beans and the cafe's own merchandise are sold to take home, and LINE Pay is accepted.
喵喵咖啡
Keelung
喵喵咖啡 is a seaside cafe at the Huhai Bay visitor service station on Huhai Road in Anle District, Keelung, which began life as a mobile coffee truck. Inside, a large group of friendly cats, mostly American Shorthairs and Maine Coons, keep guests company, though the cats have their own 'working hours' and may be resting when you arrive. Outside, the seating looks over the bay, with sea breezes and frequent buskers and live music. Indoor seating has a minimum spend of NT$200 per person plus a 10% service charge. Everything on the menu is handmade, including waffles, light meals, snacks, coffee and other drinks, so expect a wait at busy times. The cafe welcomes group gatherings, birthday celebrations and even proposals.
Check each cafe's website for current hours, booking requirements and age restrictions before visiting.
