There are 43 cat cafes in Canada.
Catloops Cat Cafe
Kamloops, British Columbia
Catloops Cat Cafe is Kamloops' first cat cafe, a family-owned space on Laval Crescent in the Southgate area. Opened in March 2026 by Julie Coneybeare Ondang, it has a cafe counter up front for hot and cold drinks and a lounge with walking platforms, scratching posts, couches and tables. The cats, around a dozen at a time, are fosters of Sammy's Forgotten Felines, a local volunteer rescue that traps and rehabilitates feral and colony cats, and all are available for adoption apart from a couple of friendly residents who help settle newcomers. Visits last 50 minutes for a set admission fee and can be booked online or by phone. Visitors must be at least 8. The cafe runs regular events such as colouring nights, tarot readings and cat yoga.

Kitties & Cream
Nanaimo, British Columbia
Kitties & Cream is a cat shop and rescue adoption lounge on Fitzwilliam Street in Nanaimo's Old City Quarter, and Vancouver Island's first cat lounge. After moving to its current address, it runs a small drop-in meet-and-greet room with up to six adoptable cats at a time while it raises funds to build a full lounge. Visits to the room are by donation and need no booking. The cats come from partner rescues Brittany Niemi Rescues, CatSpan Ferals Registered Charity, Running Wild Rescue and SOS Prairie Rescue, and more than 900 cats have been adopted through Kitties & Cream. Adopters meet the cats in person and then apply. The shop sells cat food, litter, furniture and toys alongside cat-themed gifts, stickers and art from over 40 local makers, with free local delivery. There is no cafe service on site.

RAPS Cat Sanctuary
Richmond, British Columbia
The RAPS Cat Sanctuary is a large cat sanctuary run by the Regional Animal Protection Society on No. 6 Road in East Richmond, behind Phoenix Perennials. It is home for life to several hundred cats who are unlikely to be adopted elsewhere, including seniors, former ferals, shy cats and cats with FIV, leukemia or other chronic conditions, many of whom roam freely through the buildings and outdoor enclosures. The public can visit on weekend afternoons with a paid ticket, best bought in advance, and is asked to keep visits to about an hour. Children under 6 are not admitted, and children under 13 must be supervised. Not all cats are friendly, so visitors ask before touching, let the cats approach and bring no treats. Occasionally a cat becomes ready for adoption, but the sanctuary is mainly a lifelong home; visitor fees and sponsorships fund its care. Parking is very limited.

Alley Kats Deal Den & Kitty Lounge
Duncan, British Columbia
Alley Kats Deal Den is an antique and thrift shop with a cat lounge on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan, the Cowichan Valley's first cat lounge. Run by Katrine Petersen and Alex Campbell, it opened the lounge in November 2025 inside the store they had operated for several years, and has since added a separate kitten room. Around 20 cats and kittens live there at a time, most of them strays, surrendered pets and cats from the Stray Cats of South Cowichan rescue, and most are available for adoption, with fees that cover their vet care; more than 90 have been rehomed. Visitors pay an entry fee per person, with a family rate, and admission includes a drink from the small concession. The shop sells antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing, local crafts and housewares, and the lounge can be rented after hours for birthdays and other private parties.

Cheery Cat
Edmonton, Alberta
Cheery Cat is a specialty cat boutique with a cat lounge on Calgary Trail in south Edmonton, between Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard just off Whitemud Drive. Opened in 2023 by Angela Wong Durand, it sells cat food, toys, accessories and clothing. The lounge, a palace-themed room called the Cheery Palace, holds six to twelve free-roaming foster kittens and young cats. Since April 2026 they come from the shop's own rescue, Cheery Cat Rescue, and all are available for adoption; more than 200 foster kittens had been adopted by September 2026. Visits are charged by the half hour or hour, with walk-ins accepted and reservations online or by phone. Guests sign a waiver, wear socks, and children must be at least 5 and accompanied one-to-one by an adult. Food and outside toys are not allowed in the lounge.

Gallery 39
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Gallery 39 is a rescue cat art gallery on St. Anne's Road in Winnipeg's Glenwood area, run as part of Lizzy B's. It works like a cat cafe without food or drink: visitors pay admission for a 50-minute visit in a quiet gallery of original work by local artists, where adoptable rescue cats live full-time. The cats come from the rescues K9 Advocacy and Hello Whiskers, and adoptions go through the rescue. The gallery keeps a small number of cats, starting with around four to eight, and they have private areas that visitors cannot enter. Visitors may pet cats that approach them but not pick them up, chase them or wake them. Admission includes a cat treat, and children under 3 enter free. Booking ahead online is strongly recommended, as walk-ins are not guaranteed and evening slots may close if nothing is booked by late afternoon.

Otis & Clementine's Books & Coffee
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Otis & Clementine's Books & Coffee is a used bookstore and coffee counter on St. Margarets Bay Road in Upper Tantallon, near the head of St. Margarets Bay in the western part of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Its sign reads "books, coffee, sometimes kitties": alongside Seamus, the resident bookstore cat, the shop hosts adoptable cats and kittens from the Bedford rescue Spay Day HRM, who roam freely among the shelves. A new cat arrives each time one is adopted, so numbers vary, and current adoptables are posted on Instagram and Facebook. There is no entry fee or booking; visitors browse, have a coffee or tea and spend time with the cats during opening hours. Would-be adopters can meet a cat in the store and fill out an application there, which is passed to Spay Day HRM. The shop also hosts Spanish classes and mah jong games.
