Suama Shokai
Suama Shokai is a cafe and rental space attached to a rescue cat shelter in Oyamacho, Itabashi, about 2 minutes on foot from Oyama Station on the Tobu Tojo Line and close to the Happy Road Oyama shopping street. Opened in February 2021 by a long-time rescuer, it was set up so that cafe sales cover the shelter cats' living costs. The cafe serves hot sandwiches, soups, cakes and hand-drip coffee, and has Wi-Fi and power outlets for coworking; the space can also be booked for workshops and events. The cat room is separated from the cafe by glass, and guests who order from the menu can go in for a donation, with a monthly pass also offered. Around ten cats are usually seeking homes, and adoption involves an application, interview, home visit and trial period. Socks are required. The cafe is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
