Seattle Meowtropolitan is a pioneering cat café that opened in 2015 as the city’s first, aiming to enhance feline welfare while offering a unique social experience. With a mission to improve the lives of cats by finding them loving homes and supporting broader cat welfare initiatives, it partners with Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) to house adoptable cats in a comfortable, cage-free lounge. Visitors can enjoy handcrafted beverages and snacks in the café before spending time with the cats for $12 per half hour or $18 per hour, with all proceeds from the café and online store supporting the cats’ care and donations to shelters and rescues. Its vision is to expand this model nationwide, creating more welcoming spaces where cats and humans can connect, fostering adoptions, and promoting a culture of giving back to the feline community through every interaction and purchase.
