Ronron et Gourmandises
Ronron et Gourmandises is a bar à chats, restaurant and tea room on Boulevard des Pommes in the centre of Orthez, in the Béarn, opposite the Saint-Pierre church. The cats in the dining room are entrusted by the associations Patounes de Chats and Animal'Âme and are all waiting for adoption, so visitors can meet them over a meal and ask about taking one home. At lunchtime the kitchen serves a daily combined plate that changes with the market, always with a vegetarian option, plus homemade desserts including the house El Gato. Until 6 pm it works as a salon de thé with cakes, tea, hot chocolate, coffee, juices and smoothies. The building also houses a gallery of local makers selling cat-themed crafts, loose tea and biscuits, rooms for wellbeing practitioners such as hypnotherapy and massage, and an organic plant-based hair salon.

Café Moustache
Bayonne, Nouvelle Aquitaine35 mi / 57 km
Café Moustache is a café à chats on Rue du 49ème Régiment d'Infanterie in the Poste quarter of Bayonne. It was opened in summer 2026 by Emmanuelle Daragnes, a former veterinary assistant, and works as a foster home: the cats living in the café, such as Mimi, Aya and Brooke, are looking for families and can be adopted by visitors who fall for one. Guests settle into a warm, cocooning room with a coffee, tea, latte, cappuccino, pastry, quiche, cheesecake or savoury tartine and wait for a cat to come over for attention. There is no entry fee, prices are modest, and the room is arranged so the cats can come and go safely. The café suits a sweet break, a quiet read or simply time with the cats, and it is open from Tuesday to Saturday.

PawPao
Agen, Nouvelle Aquitaine85 mi / 137 km
PawPao is the first bar à chats in Agen, on Rue Molinier in the town centre. Founder Paola opened it in September 2025 as a café solidaire: alongside a few resident cats who live there permanently and are not for adoption, the café hosts cats entrusted by local animal protection associations, usually around seven to nine at a time, all looking for new homes. The cats roam freely in a cosy room, and visitors can simply come for a drink and a cuddle or start an adoption on the spot. There is no entry fee or timed session; guests order from a seasonal, homemade menu of sweet and savoury dishes, lattes such as a cherry-blossom latte, lemonade and fresh fruit smoothies. A small solidarity shop sells cat accessories, gifts and items by local makers, and the café also runs workshops.

Nine resident cats, Hime, Hoshi, Tora, Kuro, Kumo, Yuki, Kōyō, Kami and Maru, came from local shelters including the SPA's Fondaudège house, the Potron-Minet refuge and Aid'animaux 33, and they have a private room they can use at any time. As in Japanese cat cafés, visits are charged by time, with one-hour, 90-minute and two-hour formulas that each include a drink from the menu, and last entry is an hour before closing. Guests swap their shoes for slippers. The menu has bubble tea, onigiri and other Japanese snacks, and there is a manga library and a zen inner courtyard used in warmer months. Booking is recommended.
