Le Comptoir des Chats
Le Comptoir des Chats is a cat café and tea room in the old centre of Bordeaux, on Rue Pierre de Coubertin close to the Grosse Cloche. Opened in 2016 as the city's first café à chats, it is home to around eight resident cats, some adopted from shelters and others from breeders, including European shorthairs, a Maine Coon, a Chartreux, a Scottish Fold and a British Shorthair. The cats move freely through a calm room fitted with walkways and climbing routes, and there is a private terrace. Staff explain the house rules before guests go in, each visitor orders at least one item, and no booking is taken. Children are admitted from age 10. The menu is homemade, with a slow-cooked hot chocolate made from three chocolates and organic milk, light desserts, cheesecake and several gluten-free pastries.

Mon Chat Pitre Bordeaux is a general bookshop with resident cats on Rue Fondaudège, north of the city centre, and the Bordeaux branch of the Mon Chat Pitre ronron-librairie network that began in Aix-en-Provence in 2021.
