Pokemeow Cafe
Pokemeow was a cafe with a cat room on Crewe Place in Rosebery, in Sydney's inner south. It opened in late March 2020, just before the first COVID-19 lockdown. Its own slogan called it Sydney's first "cat ornamental cafe", meaning the cats could be watched as well as visited: diners in the cafe could look through a glass wall into the adjoining playroom at no extra cost, and a booked session in the "cat playground" let visitors in with the cats and kittens. Sessions cost $10 for half an hour in 2020 and later from $20 for an hour. Visitors to the playground had to be at least 7, and children 14 and under had to be supervised by a paying guardian. The cafe served breakfast and lunch dishes such as smashed avocado and acai bowls, later added a dinner menu, and at first also offered grooming for cats and dogs. It has since closed permanently.

YUMIAO Cat Cafe is a cat cafe on O'Dea Avenue in Waterloo, next to Kennards Self Storage and a short walk from Green Square Station. It is named after the owner's British Shorthair, who died of FIP in 2019. The resident cats live at the cafe and are mostly rescues, surrenders and cats retired by breeders; they are not generally up for adoption, although the cafe rehomes any that would prefer a quieter life. Visits are 30, 45 or 60-minute sessions in the cat lounge, and booking online, though not required, includes a free drink, served in lidded cups. Weekend feeding sessions let visitors give the cats treats, and there are weekday unlimited sessions and multi-visit passes. Picking up the cats is not allowed, and children under 12 must come with an adult. The cafe opens daily, with longer hours on Mondays, weekends and school holidays.
