喵仔間 Niau-á King
Niau-á King (喵仔間) is a vinyl record salon in a small lane on Xingcheng Street in Taipei's Datong District, near exit 2 of Shuanglian MRT station and Chifeng Street, in the old Blacksmith Street neighbourhood. Four resident cats live in the shop; an illustrator painted their portraits on the wall, and the fridge holds beers and sakes with cat labels. Coffee and tea are served by day and alcohol from the afternoon, with a weekly-changing menu of small dishes, oden, curry and a roasted-millet latte. The menu is also written in Taiwanese Hokkien. Records play on the turntable, and the room is small, so it suits a quiet drink alone or with a friend.
