Nekotemari Rescue Cat Cafe
Nekotemari is an adoption-focused rescue cat cafe on the third floor of a building in Sagamihara, Chuo Ward, five to six minutes on foot from the south exit of JR Sagamihara Station. It is run by the volunteer rescue group Tanpopo no Sato, which is registered with the Kanagawa Animal Protection Center and cares for more than 200 cats; the cafe space was the group's former shelter and was renovated through crowdfunding in 2025. Dozens of cats live here, many of them former strays and cats rescued from breeders, and every cat is tested, vaccinated and neutered before joining. Visits are charged per 30 minutes, slightly more at weekends, with children paying the adult rate and a drink included. Walk-ins are welcome; ring the bell at the door. Socks are required. The group also holds monthly adoption events. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Thursdays, except on public holidays.
