Neko No Jikan Kita Honten

Neko no Jikan Cat Café is Japan’s pioneering feline retreat, established in 2004 as the country’s first cat café, located at 5-16 Kurosakichō, 2nd Floor, Kita-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka 530-0023, Japan, a three-minute walk from JR Tenma Station. This intimate and serene establishment invites guests to spend quality time with approximately 13 resident cats—ranging from pedigrees to everyday moggies—in a tranquil setting that blends traditional Japanese charm with modern café comfort. Featuring two distinct rooms—a traditional tatami-mat space with shoji screens and a brighter café area with a kitchen, bar, and large windows—the café enhances its calm atmosphere with soft, lullaby-like guitar music, though many cats may be napping during visits. Visitors must make reservations at least three days in advance via email or phone, paying a 1,700 yen fee per hour, which includes a complimentary drink, available only in the kitchen or café area (no food is served). Open Wednesday to Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekends (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), Neko no Jikan offers a peaceful retreat for cat lovers to relax, interact with sociable felines (when awake), and experience a historic piece of Japan’s cat café culture in Osaka’s culturally rich Kita-ku neighborhood.
