Neko Hana Cafe Tenon
Neko Hana Cafe Tenon is a very small cat cafe attached to a flower shop in Kokubuminato, Kirishima. Around a dozen rescued cats live in the room, and most are unusually affectionate, climbing onto visitors' laps soon after they sit down. Each booking is private: one group of up to three people at a time, reserved by phone by the day before, as same-day visits and walk-ins are not accepted. Visits are charged for 30 or 50 minutes, with short extensions possible. No food or drinks are served; instead each visitor receives fresh flowers on the way out. Cat treats are sold at the entrance. Visitors are asked to wear socks and masks, and children in the third grade of elementary school or younger must come with an adult, who makes the booking. There is parking for one car in front of the shop. The cafe is closed on Mondays.

Nekozuki Room Mofumofu
Kagoshima16 mi / 25 km
Nekozuki Room Mofumofu is a tiny cat room in an apartment building in Shinyashikicho, central Kagoshima, on a back street near Pers Street, a short walk from the Tenmonkan area. It describes itself as possibly the smallest cat cafe in the world, and it reopened after a renewal on 25 February 2026. Most of the resident cats are convalescing or shy, sensitive cats that are not used to people, so visits are quiet and the cats set the pace, but several others enjoy attention and play. The room shares its space with Sora 401 Kobo, the owner's small studio. Opening days and afternoon hours are announced on Instagram, usually a few days a week, so it is best to check there before visiting.
Rescue Cat Shelter Mirai
Kagoshima17 mi / 27 km
Rescue Cat Shelter Mirai is a rescue cat shelter in Masagocho, Kagoshima, run by the NPO Chiiki Neko Mimamoritai, a group that carries out trap-neuter-return work and supports community cats across the city. About 40 cats live in the shelter, including cats rescued from hoarding cases, and the clean, modern room opens to the public on weekend afternoons so that people can meet them. Visits are mainly for those thinking about adopting, and cats go to new homes after a trial period, with current cats introduced on Instagram. The shelter is occasionally closed on its regular days, so it is worth checking Instagram on the day before going. The group does not take in cats from the public.
