St Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Mad Catter Cat Cafe
Mad Catter Cafe was a cat cafe at 124 Duckworth Street in downtown St. John's, and the first in Newfoundland and Labrador. Colin Williams and Josh Eddy opened it in September 2018 in the former Bird House space. It had a take-out coffee bar at the front, selling coffee and snacks, and a cat lounge where all the cats were adoptable and came from the City of St. John's Humane Services, which handled adoptions. A 50-minute lounge visit cost $10 plus tax per person, and the cafe opened seasonally from late spring, Tuesday to Sunday. Almost 700 cats were adopted through it before it closed permanently on September 27, 2026, at the end of its 2026 season.

ChatFé is a volunteer-run cat cafe in Beauceville, in the Beauce region south of Québec City, operated by Refuge Ami-Maux, a shelter for stray cats. It opened in June 2023. Visitors buy a drink or snack or make a donation, in cash only, then spend time with the shelter's kittens, juniors and adult cats in a bright room where the cats mix freely with guests. Cat-themed products are sold as well. The volunteers put the cats' health and safety first, so visitors are asked to follow their guidance; children must be over 6 and come with an adult, and shoes come off. Opening hours vary with volunteer availability and are posted on Refuge Ami-Maux's Facebook page and the ChatFé Instagram account, so it is best to check before visiting.
