Kotofeynya Maroseyka

Kotofeynya on Maroseyka is a time-cafe with rescue cats in Moscow's Basmanny district, a few minutes on foot from Kitay-Gorod metro station. Opened in 2016, it is the older of the two Kotofeynya cafes, which together house more than 60 cats taken from city shelters; the cats are rehomed free of charge after an application form and an interview with a curator. Visitors pay a fixed amount for the first half hour and then by the minute, with tea, coffee, cocoa and biscuits included, and an all-day ticket is also sold. Board games, a games console and books are available, and the space can be used for remote work. Guests take off outdoor shoes and wear disposable socks or slippers, sanitise their hands and are asked not to feed the cats or use flash photography. No booking is needed, and children up to three enter free.
