Kotiki i Lyudi (Cats and People) on Ulitsa Gilyarovskogo is the original branch of Moscow's first cat cafe, which opened in 2015 and has been at this address in the Meshchansky district since 2016, a 7 to 8 minute walk from Prospekt Mira and Sukharevskaya metro stations. It is linked to a charity foundation that rescues street cats, treats them and finds them homes; more than 600 cats have been adopted through the project, which also runs a second cafe on Novokuznetskaya Ulitsa. Visitors pay by the minute, with a lower rate after the first hour, and coffee, tea, milk, sweets and biscuits are included; guests may also bring or order food. Board games, coworking and game tariffs are offered, along with events such as chess evenings, yoga with cats and monthly children's lessons on cat behaviour. Guests may not wake, feed or pick up the cats against their will.
