Kamakura Nekonoma

Kamakura Nekonoma is an adoption-focused rescue cat cafe in an old house set among greenery in Fueda, Kamakura, about ten minutes on foot from the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in and three minutes from the Uchikoshi stop on the bus route between Kamakura and Fujisawa stations. Opened in 2016, it has rehomed more than 500 cats from the cafe and beyond and carries out trap-neuter-return work in the area. Some cats prefer to stay up on the beams, and not every cat is available for adoption. Visits are by phone reservation only and are charged by the half hour, with a minimum of one drink per person from a menu of herbal teas, Sri Lankan tea, matcha, coffee and sweets. Children under school age are not admitted, and elementary school children pay half price with a guardian. Socks are required. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
