Kamakura Nekomitei
Kamakura, Kanagawa
Kamakura Nekomitei is a small rescue cat cafe in an old house with tatami rooms in Yukinoshita, Kamakura, about five minutes on foot from the east exit of Kamakura Station, just off Komachi-dori on the way to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. It is owner-run and home-like, and its rescue cats, some of them living with disabilities, are waiting for new families; kitten adoption events are held from time to time. The house holds only one or two groups at a time, so phoning ahead is advised. Visits are charged by the hour with a drink included. The cafe looks like an ordinary home from the street and is easy to walk past. It is closed on Wednesdays.

Kamakura Nekonoma
Kamakura, Kanagawa
Kamakura Nekonoma is an adoption-focused rescue cat cafe in an old house set among greenery in Fueda, Kamakura, about ten minutes on foot from the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in and three minutes from the Uchikoshi stop on the bus route between Kamakura and Fujisawa stations. Opened in 2016, it has rehomed more than 500 cats from the cafe and beyond and carries out trap-neuter-return work in the area. Some cats prefer to stay up on the beams, and not every cat is available for adoption. Visits are by phone reservation only and are charged by the half hour, with a minimum of one drink per person from a menu of herbal teas, Sri Lankan tea, matcha, coffee and sweets. Children under school age are not admitted, and elementary school children pay half price with a guardian. Socks are required. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Munchkins Kamakura
Kamakura, Kanagawa
Munchkins is a cat and dog cafe on the third floor of a building on Komachi-dori in Yukinoshita, Kamakura, five to seven minutes on foot from the east exit of Kamakura Station. Formerly known as Neko Cafe Shizuku, it has more than ten cats, many of them kittens, and has also kept pugs. Visits are charged per 30 minutes, with a lower rate for children of junior high school age and younger, and a drink order is expected; cafe drinks and light meals are served. Walk-ins are welcome, and families with children are accepted. It is open every day and is a convenient stop while sightseeing along Komachi-dori.
