Hogo Inu & Neko Cafe Shippo no Mori
Shippo no Mori is a rescue dog and cat cafe in Ishikura, northwest Himeji, run by the NPO animal shelter Himeji Canfel, which takes in dogs and cats separated from their owners and finds them new homes. It is about 20 minutes by car from JR Himeji Station. A one-hour visit covers 30 minutes in the cat room and 30 minutes with the dogs, with free-flow drinks, and visitors can move between the areas. There is a lower rate for children from age four through elementary school, and toddlers enter free. Children must come with a guardian, and socks are required in the cat room. Bookings are made in advance through the online calendar. Adoption events are held regularly. The cafe is closed on the first and third Fridays, during Obon and over New Year, and the site also has a self-service dog grooming room.
