Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan

CATLOAF

CATLOAF is a rescue cat cafe in Kataharamachi, central Takamatsu, right next to Kotoden Kataharamachi Station. Around 40 cats, taken in from a range of situations, live across the second and third floors of the building, where visitors can sit with them and play. No booking is needed, though entry may be limited when it is busy. Visits are charged for the first 30 minutes and then per 15 minutes, with a weekday free-time option; drinks and cat treats cost extra. Children under 11 are not admitted, and older children must come with a guardian. All the cats are up for adoption by Kagawa residents, with a trial stay at home before the adoption is finalised. The cafe is closed on Mondays (open on public holidays), last entry is shortly before 6 PM, and safety rules are explained in Japanese only.
