Cat Lovers Gatoteca
Cat Lovers Gatoteca is a small cat cafe in Huércal de Almería, a town just north of Almería city, run by a veterinarian linked to a local veterinary practice. Rescued cats, many found injured or abandoned on nearby streets, live in a cosy room where visitors play with them over coffee, tea, juice, smoothies or soft drinks. Cards on the wall explain how much contact and which treats each cat likes, and visitors can choose the music. Visits are by appointment every day, requested through the website form or by WhatsApp. Under-18s must come with an adult, visits are recommended from age four, and the cats may not be picked up. All cats can be adopted through an application form, and the space also holds themed events, sells second-hand books and welcomes volunteers.

La Gatera - Cat Café
Murcia106 mi / 170 km
La Gatera is a cat cafe on Calle Vara de Rey in the historic centre of Murcia, and was the first cat cafe in the region when it opened in 2022. Visitors share the cafe with rescued cats and kittens, all of them up for adoption through the Protectora Ayuda Animal Murcia, whose volunteers handle the adoption process. Entry is a ticket per person that includes the first drink, with no time limit. Tables can be reserved online for the first part of the morning and afternoon sessions; after that, seating is first come, first served. The menu has coffee, infusions in cat-shaped cups, cinnamon rolls, alfajores and vegan options. House rules ask guests to let the cats approach first, not to pick them up or wake them, to avoid flash and to play with toys rather than hands. Children under 14 must come with an adult.

Cat Relax
Alicante, Valencian Community148 mi / 238 km
Cat Relax is a non-profit cat cafe on Plaza Joaquín María López in the Los Ángeles district of Alicante, run since 2016 by ABAIFA, an association that rescues homeless cats in the province. Visitors can have a drink, read or play with around a dozen sociable rescue cats, most of them adults being socialised before adoption, and at some times of year there is also a kitten room upstairs. The cat area is separated from the drinks counter by double doors, guests wash their hands on the way in and out, and the cats have a room of their own to retreat to. The ground-floor cat room is wheelchair accessible. Visits are by advance booking only, through a request form on the association's website, and a volunteer supervises the room. Stays may be limited to an hour at busy times. All the cats can be adopted through the association.

Oh My Cat! Salón con Gatos
Sevilla, Andalusia198 mi / 318 km
Oh My Cat is a cat lounge on Calle Carmen Martínez Sancho in Sevilla, close to Avenida Alcalde Manuel del Valle, run since May 2023 by volunteers of Ghato Verde, an association that cares for cat colonies in Las Pajanosas and rescues strays and litters. It is not a cafe: a small donation covers a drink and time in a quiet room with around ten adoptable cats, each quarantined in a volunteer's home and under veterinary care. Booking per person on the website is required to keep numbers low, and families are welcome. A small shop sells treats to give the cats, plus crafts, prints and mugs, and all proceeds fund the lounge and the colonies. Adoption involves a questionnaire, an interview and a contract. The association also offers home veterinary visits and cat sitting in Sevilla and the Aljarafe.
